It’s the end of the week and you may have spent a great deal of time this week working on your physical activities, your day to day jobs and taking care of your house and family. Chances are, you’re as ready for the weekend as I am. I woke up this morning pretty tired, but we’re off and running again to sub at the school along with getting a number of other tasks and chores finished.
Exercise & the Weekend
It’s the weekend and weekends often mean taking care of the lawn, hooking up with friends, going to the park and more. My new bike is heading off to the bike shop this weekend to make sure the tires are properly aligned and the brakes are working well. Ideally, next weekend, my daughter and I will be spending a few hours in the park riding around and doing circuits.
In just a couple of days, May will be here and warmer temperatures will begin to prevail against this crazy spring that’s been bouncing back and forth between cold and warm and hot and freezing. Our local pool is going to open on May 1st and we’re going to launch our summer programs here as we wrap up the final week of the Spring Forward to Action Challenge.
What Are You Doing This Weekend?
One of the things about the weekend that I enjoy is that I can get physical activity in my day-to-day action. Anyone who has spent a couple of hours pulling weeds in the garden knows that it’s definitely work. Running your lawn mower around? Do it at a respectable speed and you’re definitely getting in some cardio. Want to walk to the park? That’s exercise. What about bouncing on the trampoline with the kids? Yep, that’s definitely a way to get the heart racing.
Deep cleaning the house? Be thorough, but be quick, moving from one house cleaning activity to the next and you can Karate Kid your workout with dusting, vacuuming, laundry and more. It’s an opportunity to accomplish several tasks, a workout included and you can get equal amounts of physical activity from the chores and the playtime.
So, what are you doing this weekend?
