Now is the time to get those little things done around the house to make your home holiday worthy. Do you have some projects that you would like to see done? Is there a room in your home that is in serious need of decluttering, a door that squeaks, some artwork that needs to be hung? Develop a plan to get one or two things done around your home each day, and you’ll be in a great place for the holidays–that great place will be your home!
It is so hard to fit the time in to do anything extra around the house, isn’t it? There are so many other things that call to you for attention, such as work, kids, etc. But once the holidays are in full swing, it will be tough to just keep up with any sort of normal routine, so now is really the time to make some positive progress in your home before that chaos begins.
You just have to make the time, if you want to accomplish anything. I am finding that myself. Despite my best intentions, it is easy to get sidetracked. Finding some moments of uninterrupted time may help. I am a morning person, so I just set the alarm a bit early and get to work. Fortunately, my family can sleep through practically anything, otherwise I would just first concentrate on areas of the home that are away from the bedrooms, or engage in activities that don’t make a lot of noise.
If you are a night person you could use the same strategy, only at night instead of the morning.
If you have young children at home, try to engage them in an activity, so you have a few minutes to get something done. I know, it is tough, but even if you can only work in 10 minute increments at a time, you can still make some progress.
I’ll be sharing some of my own spruce up projects and strategies throughout the month. Find me also on the Families.com Facebook page and say hello.
