It may be the worst kept secret in Hollywood. First he was, then he wasn’t, then he really wasn’t. But, now it appears George Clooney has finally decided that he will in fact grace the set of ER during the show’s farewell season.
The hunky star is planning to return to the NBC drama that launched his career, according to sources close to the show. There’s no word on how many episodes the award-winning actor plans to appear in during the show’s final season, though rumor has it that ER co-creator John Wells has ordered a closed set to keep Clooney’s appearance under wraps.
Frankly, I’m surprised that Clooney decided to make an appearance since he consistently denied that he planned to return to series. The last time the handsome actor was seen on ER was back in a 2000 during cameo with his on-screen love interest Juliana Margulies.
MARCIA CROSS RETREATS
Desperate Housewives’ star Marcia Cross ting from public appearances for a while, according to her rep.
Reports say the actress’ stockbroker husband Tom Mahoney has been diagnosed with cancer.
“He is currently under treatment and is responding very well,” the Cross’ rep told PEOPLE magazine.
Cross and Mahoney have been married since 2006 and have 2-year-old twin daughters, Eden and Savannah.
No word on how Mahoney’s diagnosis will effect Cross’ shooting schedule.
CAROLINE KENNEDY REASSESSES PLANS
So much for Senator Caroline Kennedy… for now anyway.
According to reports, Kennedy is no longer interested in taking over Hillary Clinton’s vacant Senate seat in New York.
The daughter of the 35th President of the United States just announced that she has withdrawn her name from consideration for the job. Kennedy cited “personal reasons” for her move.
The New York Times is reporting that sole surviving child of slain President John F. Kennedy called Governor David A. Paterson (he is in charge of choosing Clinton’s replacement) and expressed concern for her uncle, Senator Edward M. Kennedy, who suffered a seizure during President Obama’s inaugural lunch on Tuesday.
However, a number of Washington newspapers are reporting that Paterson decided not to pick Caroline Kennedy to fill the vacant Senate seat, which is why she withdrew her name today.
Those same papers say that New York Attorney General Andrew M. Cuomo will likely be named as Clinton’s replacement.
