Star Updates: Lisa Marie Has Twin Girls and Helio Gets the Green Light to Race

After an eventful pregnancy spent battling the tabloids, Lisa Marie Presley finally welcomed twin girls into the world on Tuesday, October 7th.

According to reports, mom and her newborn daughters are at home resting comfortably.

Presley’s rep says the baby girls were delivered by C-section Tuesday afternoon and weighed in at 5 lbs., 15 oz. and 5 lbs., 2 oz. respectively.

The singer reluctantly announced her pregnancy shortly after a London newspaper published unflattering photographs of her eating at a restaurant with her mom Priscilla Presley and commented about her “mega-appetite.” Presley sued for libel, and the paper later apologized.

The 40-year-old mom to daughter Riley, 19, and Benjamin, 15, with ex-husband Danny Keough says her recent pregnancy came as a surprise to her and her current husband Michael Lockwood. After getting over her initial shock Presley went on to flaunt her baby bump in the September issue of Marie Claire.

HELIO GETS THE GREEN LIGHT TO RACE

Less than two weeks after he was charged with tax evasion and freed on $10 million bail, pro racecar driver turned “Dancing with the Stars” champ Helio Castroneves was granted permission by a judge to leave the country for an IndyCar event this month in Australia.

The decision follows a tense courtroom hearing in which federal prosecutors argued that the two-time Indianapolis 500 winner fit the profile of a felon who would flee the country permanently.

Castroneves is charged with conspiracy and tax evasion for allegedly failing to pay U.S. taxes on about $5.5 million in income using offshore accounts. He pleaded not guilty to the charges last week and at the time a judge banned him from traveling outside of the United States.

But less than 24 hours ago a judge modified the decision to allow Castroneves to travel to Brisbane, Australia to compete in a racing event at the end of the month. Castroneves’ attorney insisted there was zero chance his client would use the trip to flee prosecution, to which the judge wryly stated that Castroneves would have to “tango with the U.S. Marshals” if he didn’t show up for court.

Prosecutors vehemently opposed the decision saying that Castroneves is a flight risk given that he has access to millions of dollars in Brazil, where he owns Burger King restaurants and a car dealership.

Helio owns Burger Kings… who knew?
