Stars of Celebrity Fit Club 5 Announced

If you are like me, you are probably sick of seeing stick thin photos of celebrities such as Nicole Richie, Lara Flynn Boyle, and Kate Bosworth. It seems that just when we don’t think they can get any thinner, they do. Are there no celebrities that are like us – real people with weight problems? The answer is yes!

If you have never seen “Celebrity Fit Club,” it is the VH1 show that helps celebrities fight the battle of the bulge. They exercise and diet to compete for cash, prizes, and the title of the celebrity with the most weight loss. And if you think the crew of “Celebrity Fit Club” takes it easy on them because they are celebrities, think again!

Their trainer isn’t some soft hearted exercise guru but none other than Harvey Walden IV, a real life Marine Drill Sergeant. Harvey is currently a First Sergeant in the Marine Corps and he doesn’t cut the celebrities any slack. He yells, rants, and raves at them when they give up, but in the end, the celebrities know he just has their best interest at heart. Harvey also isn’t afraid to praise them when they do well.

The celebrities have a nutritionist working with them (Dr. Ian Smith) because weight loss isn’t all about exercise. There is also a psychotherapist to help them deal with eating issues. Just like us, some celebrities eat for reasons like comfort, because they are missing something in their life, stress, etc.

In the past, “Celebrity Fit Club” has hosted celebrities like actress Kim Coles from “Living Single,” comedian Ralphie May, Judge Mablean from Divorce Court, actor Gary Busey, actor Willie Aames, actress/singer Tina Yothers, rapper Biz Markie, and show favorite, Wendy the Snapple Lady. This year’s cast will feature Maureen McCormick (Marsha from the original “Brady Bunch” series), “Saved by the Bell’s Screech (Dustin Diamond), 80s pop star Tiffany, country artist Cledus T. Judd, rapper Warren G., hip hop artist Da Brat, American Idol’s Kimberly Locke, and Ross “The Intern” Mathews from “The Tonight Show.”

Be sure to tune into VH1 in April so you can work out with the stars!

I work full-time as a web developer at UTHSC and most of my other time is spent with my son (born 2004). I love everything pop culture, but also enjoy writing about green living (it has opened my eyes to many things!) and health (got to worry about that as you get older!).
