The end of August is nearing and that means fall is nearly upon us. You probably don’t really want to start thinking about the holidays just yet, but they will be here before we know it. While I do not plan to start too many holiday preparations at this time, this is a good time to start thinking about redecorating for the changing seasons.
As the weather begins to grow cooler and the kids head back to school, you can do some redecorating so your home will be picture perfect in plenty of time for the holidays. Start compiling your design plans, materials lists, and budget now. Start checking out different ideas for some inspiration.
Go Two Tone
One quick, affordable way to make a big impact in your dining room is to make it two tone. By only painting a percentage of the space, you will cut your costs and efforts by half (or maybe even more) and still have dramatic results. Take a sample of your existing wall color with you to choose the new paint. Determine whether you should paint the upper or lower portion of the wall and choose the perfect color. Add a gallery wall by hanging evenly spaced artwork in matching frames in the upper portion. Pick up a few accessories in the new color and when the holidays arrive, decorate with the fresh, new color in mind.
Paint the Ceiling
Painting the ceiling may be one of the least fun jobs, but it adds a lot of drama without a lot of money. While it is labor intensive, it’s still not as much work as repainting the entire room. Still, it will change the look and feel of the space a great deal. Pick up on the ceiling color through the use of window treatments.
