Now is the time to take a look at the games and puzzles that you may like to buy for the holiday season or for upcoming birthdays. This is because starting now through the beginning of November, you should get the greatest bargains when you purchase certain toys.
The stores are trying to get a jump start on the holiday season, so they are starting to test the waters with certain toys. You may find some particular character toys being testing in promotion, but you will really clean up if you focus mostly on the board games and the puzzles.
Expect to start seeing a lot of buy one get one free promotions on these items. Not only do the stores want to make money, but they also want to make room for the season’s hot toys. Because the stores are a little conservative about how many toys to stock, you won’t find the shelves overflowing at all. So grab the bargains while you can.
In addition to choosing gifts for my own kids and the nieces and nephews, I also pick up extra games and puzzles to put into my gift closet. This way, when a birthday party comes up for one of my children to attend, we can choose a great gift and avoid the trip to the store. Plus we save money, since we bought the games and puzzles on sale.
One of the things that I like to do in October is to go through our own toys. I filter out our existing toys, so we can have room for anything new. As the kids get older, their needs change. I toss anything that is broken or has missing pieces and then donate the items that are in good shape. You could also choose to sell unwanted toys on Ebay, Craigslist, at an outgrown sale or at a yard sale to make some money.
