Start Planning Outdoor Living Spaces

It’s not too early. Despite any wintry weather you might still be experiencing, now is a great time to start making plans for creating inviting outdoor living spaces. The trend toward more relaxed living, including spending time outdoors, is continuing. More and better products are created all the time to make outdoor living more comfortable and enjoyable.

While you have likely been giving more though to staying warm than to creating outdoor living spaces, there is nothing to keep you from making plans. Much like designing a room inside the home, an outdoor space needs a great deal of attention to detail.

You can begin planning by using software designed for space planning, or you can use decorating tools found online that work on the same order. If you don’t wish to purchase software or simply prefer a hard copy, use graph paper or measure and mark a grid on paper to help you keep things in proper scale.

Be sure to add some color when designing your space. You might be surprised by how great certain pieces look in one color, but when you change the shade even a little, it may present a very different effect.

Start looking at fabrics and cushions for outdoor furnishings too. Many stores are already beginning to put such items on display. You can compare comfort, color, cost, maintenance requirements, and other various features such as weather resistance to get a good idea of what you’d like to use in your outdoor space once the weather warms up.

Also, once you decide on a color scheme, you can begin looking for great accents that will add an even more cozy feel to your outdoor living area. The idea is to make the space feel like you’ve entered another room rather than leaving the home, so be sure to add plenty of homey touches.
