Starting School

I just found out that all my research to help my son’s with their epilepsy actually helped me too! Now I think I have mentioned previously how when my oldest son was diagnosed with epilepsy I started doing research on epilepsy, causes, how to help with schools etc. I have used this information many times over the last 8 years but it has usually been explaining to teachers the facts of epilepsy and why my kids do the quirky little thinks that they do until now.

I have enrolled in college again full time seeing as I do not have a job anymore. I am totally changing my whole career path. I have decided I want to help other people going through the cancer diagnosis at the beginning. I am going to be a mammographic tech and diagnostic ultrasound tech so I need to get my Associates in Science and be certified in ultrasounds and mammograms.

This week I had to take a test for Psychology and the sections that I was testing on were about the neurons and brave wave lengths, EEG’s and what each part of the brain does. For once I really did not have to study I actually knew the information it was all things I have learned about epilepsy and how the brain works. See with one my sons his seizures are mainly in the right frontal lobe (I call it the be good section) it helps control impulse control and my other son his seizure activity is in multiple lobes in his brain so multiple sections of his learning, behaviors and coordination. You can tell the coordination is wobbly because he falls all the time. Just this past weekend he fell and broke his hand.

The poor kid broke it before a birthdya party we were having on Saturday for my husband and did not complain about it. The next morning I noticed it was swollen that’s when we found out about the break. Some kids will do anything to get out of homework. HA HA just kidding he still has to do it.

About Tammy Woolard

My name is Tammy and I am 40 year old mother of 3 wonderful children who came to us through domestic adoption. Although we did not have any fertility issues we chose adoption because there are so many kids that did not ask to be born but truly want a family to love. We did research on adoption choices and decided on domestic adoption through CPS. You would be surprised the differences between each agency. The adoption process is nothing like you see in the movies. I am also a 5 year breast cancer survivor. When I was diagnosed my kids were 3, 5 and 7 I did so much research I may have driven my Dr. a little crazy but that is ok it is my body not his.
