Stationary Bikes & Joint Issues

When it comes to shopping new equipment, it would be great if I had access to every one that was out there. But I don’t. So a good place to check out personal reviews of users of different kinds of stationary bikes can be found at Epinions. Check out their All Exercise Equipment Stationary Bike reviews. Don’t be disheartened, however, I am not giving up. I just want to make sure that my readers get the best possible information they can as easily as they can while I still do my research and checking out different pieces where I can.

Why Choose an Stationary Bike?

The stationary bike is a great way to get exercise in your home. We’ve talked about this here, plenty of times. I enjoy my recumbent bike and I’m still looking for a replacement for it now that the functionality seems to have gone out the window. I miss getting to ride it daily and I’m thinking whenever I elect to get my new bike, I’ll pick up some of those videos that offer you a virtual experience to go along with your indoor stationary exercises.

Personally, I love riding outdoors on a standard bike – but the stationary bike gives me a lot more options – especially with a young child in the house. It’s not always easy to find an hour or two to hit the streets and ride. But I can ride in the comfort of my own home every day as I need to whether it’s in the morning while she is still asleep or in the afternoon while she is napping.

I am not inhibited by the weather either, because let’s face it – who wants to go on a long bike ride in 100 degree weather? What about when it’s pouring rain or it’s snowing and freezing? Outdoor bikes are fantastic, but they are limited to weather conditions. Another great facet of the stationary bike is that when you have joint problems or problems with the back, the stationary bike affords you a great deal more control and safety.

For older exercisers, it can also provide security of not having to worry about personal safety or balance. Stationary bikes, particularly recumbent are very difficult to fall off of. The last thing your grandmother or grandfather needs to worry about is a bad fall that can result in a broken bone or sprain that will take them much longer than you to recover from.

Consider Giving One as a Gift

Consider helping a friend or older relative who is interested in picking up the pace of his or her own exercise routine in looking at stationary bike. Having one at a home doesn’t preclude them from going out on their daily walks or even riding outdoors, weather permitting, but for older persons with arthritis or other joint problems – the ability to ride indoors out of the inclement weather allows them to continue their exercising safely and regularly.

Check it out.
