Staying Fit as You Grow Older

When you’re younger it may seem logical to live an active, fit lifestyle. But some women begin to leave that behind as they age. Some just succumb to the idea that they are getting older and will have to accept some of the changes their bodies go through. Others may believe that with getting older, you have less energy to stay active. But there are five really important reasons to keep exercising as you grow older.

The first reason is that even if you can’t lose weight like you used to, you can knock off some pounds. Every pound matters and by continuing to exercise as you get older, you are preventing extra weight from being added on.

The second reason to keep exercising as you get older is that it will help combat stress. Exercise gives you more energy, which helps in dealing with life’s issues. But it can also be a great way to de-stress.

A third reason is that it can help prevent or alleviate joint and muscle pain, common issues as you get older. If you don’t stay active then you are more likely to experience stiffness, along with other aches and pains. But exercise can prevent this.

A fourth reason to keep exercising is that it can help prevent many health problems, including arthritis and cardiovascular conditions. Of course, if you haven’t exercised in a while, you will want to check with your doctor to see what type of routine you should be using.

Finally, continuing to exercise as you get older is important because you will have more energy and feel better about yourself. You will enjoy life more. You will spend more time doing things that are enjoyable.

Growing older shouldn’t be a reason to stop exercising. It should be the very reason that you do.
