Staying On Task….Or Not

I used to clean houses, it was how I earned a living for about eight years. During that time I learned lots of tips and tricks to make things go faster. I also learned to never mix ammonia and bleach. Back in the 80’s we weren’t very green, I used to use oven cleaner on glass shower doors. It worked great as long as you kept it off the metal but it definitely wasn’t the green way to clean!

When I cleaned houses I could clean a large house, top to bottom in three hours or less. Why can’t I do that with my own house? My house isn’t half the size of the ones I used to clean and it takes so much longer to clean. I get so easily sidetracked. I have been trying not to run from room to room putting things away, because once I run into another room I start doing things in there and leave the thing I started half done.

I’m still working on the garage, just haven’t had time to find plans for the workbenches I want to build. My niece is getting married in a month and there is lots to do so my garage may have to wait a bit. It can’t wait too long though. Here in Utah we usually get our first snow in October so I need to have the garage organized no later than the end of October. But just like everything else I start, I’ve gotten a little side tracked. I will get back to it, but first I need to make a baby quilt, which means the sewing room needs to be organized so I can get in there and get it done.

It’s amazing to me how quickly things become a mess. There are only two of us in this house but as soon as you don’t put something back where it goes the piling begins and then you need to do a major declutter just to get to the area you need.

Just reading this blog you can see how easily I get sidetracked. My mind jumps from one thing to another and nothing gets done. I also want to tell you about the bathroom I remodeled. That reminds me, I need to look for new bathroom rugs.
