Still More Amazing Uses for Baking Soda

A few days ago, I wrote a great article on More Amazing Uses for Baking Soda. In addition, awhile back two terrific articles were posted – Frugal Uses for Baking Soda, which was a follow up to Marily’s article on Baking Soda: Another Versatile Product for your home. Three articles written about one product, certainly gives me reason to shout out about it! Baking soda is truly the miracle household item. With dozens upon dozens of various uses around the home, it’s a must have!

In addition to those that we have mentioned in the previous articles, here are a few new ideas to try:

Open Wide

Try using baking soda as a toothpaste. Mix it with water to make a paste and brush teeth as normal. It has whitening properties, so it’s better than most whitening toothpastes. Not to mention that 75% of the toothpaste on the market contain some baking soda. It’s also a great mouth wash or bad breath eliminator. Mix a teaspoon into a glass of water and swish through mouth. Spit out and your mouth is fresh and clean.

Soften Hands, Smells Are Gone

Help remove onion, garlic or other strong odors from hands by rubbing them with a baking soda paste. Rinse. The gritty properties in the baking soda help remove the odors and in addition soften your hands. Use some nice smelling lotion to keep hands from drying out.

Car Deodorizer

You can sprinkle about a half inch of baking soda into your cars ash tray and your car will smell fresh and clean every time you get in.

Keep White’s White!

Add about 1/3 cup of baking soda to your wash cycle to help keep your whites white. It works as a bleach booster, with or without the bleach. If you use it in your washing machines rinse cycle, your laundry will come out smelling sweet and clean!
You can also use it to deodorize smelly dish towels, washcloths or sponges by soaking them in a solution of water and baking soda. Sponges will come out clean and smelling new.

Cut the Grime

Use baking soda to clean your fiberglass showers and bath tubs. Just sprinkle onto your sponge and wipe the sides down. Helps cut the mildew and grime from your soap and other hair products.

Accidents Happen

Accidents happen, and sometimes they happen during the night. If a child has accidentally wet the bed, blot the area as much as you can. Then sprinkle baking soda over the spot and spread across it. Allow it to soak up the extra moisture still present, and then brush off or vacuum when dry. It helps remove the moisture, stain and odor.
