I think the reason that most of us are in need of losing a few pounds is that we do not listen to the tell-tale signs of our stomachs and instead listening to our minds. Food tastes good. There is no doubt about that. Most of us like food. I had always wished that I were one of those people that did not like food so much. There would be no problem then.
If you will notice, most thin people do not like food that much and eat only to satisfy the need. They eat until satisfied and then push their plate away. A heavier person will eat until it is gone and then sometimes look for more. A thin person often eats several very small meals a day. What a meal is to a thin person is just a snack to a heavy person.
If we can just learn to not like food so much and train our bodies to eat just until we are satisfied dieting would not be so tough. If you eat until you are full you have already gone past the danger point by about 20 per cent of calories to the negative.
Take one day at a time. Start right now. The next meal that you eat today promise yourself that you will eat just until you are satisfied. Not full. Even if it is the most scrumptious meal that you have ever had. By controlling yourself you will feel really good afterwards. Not just physically, but mentally. There is a certain kind of power boost when we can defeat something that has normally taken us under in the past.
Do the same thing tomorrow. After a few days do it for two meals a day. A few days after that try doing it for all three meals. As your stomach shrinks and the pounds start falling you will train yourself to believe that food is not as important to you as it was before. Your confidence will slowly build as you become more in control and thinner.
You owe it to yourself to give it a shot. If done faithfully and without cheating everything will work out as planned. Remember if you do cheat, you are only cheating yourself.
