Stop Here When You Get to Your Vacation Destination

If you are traveling domestically to your vacation destination, there are a couple of places that you want to stop at first before you even get started with the fun. Visiting these important places will save you money.

The Visitor’s Center

Most vacation destinations have a visitor’s center. Find out where yours is and make your first stop there. At the visitor’s center, you can pick up coupons, vouchers and other discounts for restaurants and area attractions. You can also pick up extras, such as free maps of the area. Engage the person behind the desk in conversation, and you just may find out the best saving secrets in the town.

The Grocery Store

If you want to avoid the $5 ice cream cone or the $4 cookie, you’ll need your own snacks that you can whip out when the need arises. Visit a local grocery store, or box store, such as Target or Walmart and stock up on a few fun snacks. Make them ones that your kids don’t usually get at home (you are on vacation after all) that will get the kids excited and not begging for the overpriced theme snacks.

The Dollar Store

A local dollar store is a great place to stop in order to stock up on your souvenirs and any gifts that you need to get for the people back home. You can usually find many different items, from t-shirts to mugs that have the name of the town or the names of area attractions on them. These souvenirs will be a fraction of the cost of the ones you would get at the official souvenir or gift shops. Why pay more than you have to pay?

Another great place for t-shirts, believe it or not, is the seasonal aisle of those local grocery stores that I mentioned above.
