If you are anything like me, you have keepsakes all over the place. I have tried to get everything under control but what I end up doing is moving some to one place and some to another place.
What I have left are keepsakes that are all over the house. I have some keepsakes in cabinets, some in boxes and some in closets. My goal for the next few Saturdays is to get it all in order and store my keepsakes the proper way.
I already know how I want to do this. I plan on purchasing a plastic container for every member of my family. I am going to label the containers with our names and then begin to go through every spot in the house that has keepsakes. I will one-by-one sort through everything I have.
If I don’t consider it a treasure or don’t think another family member would, I am going to toss it. This will probably greatly diminish the amount of keepsakes we actually keep.
Whatever I do decide to keep will go in one of our containers. Some things that my children have made or written, I want to keep for myself so I will put those in my container. Other things that I am willing to give up, I will put in their container.
Once I have gotten through everything and the containers are filled, I am going to place them inside the appropriate person’s closet. I will finally have our keepsakes in its proper spot. By the time my children are ready to leave our home they will have a container filled with wonderful memories. These are the ones that I am willing to part with.
But I will also have my own container of memories that I can easily find when I need to do some reminiscing. So don’t let your keepsakes get lost in the shuffle or collect dust. Store them properly and they will be kept nice for years to come.
