Stress and money go hand in hand. We stress about money, no matter how much we have. Moreover, when we don’t have enough, our money causes us further stress. It is almost a never-ending cycle.
Still, it is a cycle I dare you to break. Stress deteriorates our quality of life and our health. The more you stress, the worse you will feel. Feeling bad and poor health will certainly cost you extra money. Once again, here is another cycle leading to disaster.
Don’t let the stress associated with money overtake you. Find ways to make money easier to manage – whether you have millions or only a few hundreds. How you will do this will ultimately depend on what causes you the least amount of stress.
Let me use myself as an example. I am a busy individual who doesn’t really want to worry about things far off in the future. Still, I know I need to be prepared for things like my retirement. If I didn’t have a retirement plan, I know I would stress. In turn, if I had to spend a lot of time on figuring out my retirement investments, I know that would take time in my already busy life – thus adding to my stress. Therefore, I have an automatic plan set up. I rarely look at the changes in the account, so as not to stress about whether the market is up or down. I know that there may be better ways to make more money for my retirement, but I don’t want the added stress.
The key to creating less stress in your money management is to find systems that work for your lifestyle. Then set it up and stop feeling guilty. There are endless ways to make a budget work, invest for the future and plan for emergencies. Ideally, you need to find the one way that best protects your finances and reduces your stress.
