Makeup can get very expensive. You can easily spend hundreds of dollars in a year, if you make up your face every day. One of the ways to save money on makeup without compromising on the quality, is by stretching it out and making it last. You can do this by turning unusable ends into usable makeup, and you can do this by properly taking care of your make up so that it doesn’t go bad.
Here are some ways that you can stretch your make up.
When using lipstick, you are inevitably left with a little bit at the end that you just can’t apply to your lips the traditional way. Here are two things that you can do to get the very last bits of that lipstick put to good use.
One way is by using a lip brush. You can use the lip brush to dig out a bit of the lipstick and then apply it to your lips. Be sure to keep a tissue or soft cloth wrapped around the brush, if you want to apply the lipstick while you are out.
You can also turn the lipstick end into your very own lip gloss. Simply combine the lipstick end with an equal amount of petroleum jelly in a small plate or bowl. Microwave the mix for a few seconds and stir. Place the lip gloss in a small container with a lid. There you go!
Don’t pump your mascara with the wand when you are getting ready to apply it. It seems a natural thing to do, but the practice will mix in air and cause the mascara to dry out a lot faster.
Make sure you keep all of your makeup application brushes and sponges very clean. Bacteria can breed on these surfaces and cause the makeup to go bad prematurely.
