Stuff for Barbie Dolls

So, your little one is a little bored with Barbie. She’s tried on all the outfits, used all the accessories, furniture, vehicles, and other gear, and she needs some new ideas. You could spend a fortune buying everything ever created for Barbie, which is a ton of stuff, or you and your daughter can get creative and find new things for Barbie to do and use.

Here are some ideas that will make your little girl smile:

Swimming Pool

If you don’t have a Barbie pool or beach set, don’t worry. All you need is a clean dishpan, a little water, and a washcloth. Put some water in the dishpan, cut the washcloth into beach towels, get Barbie into her swimsuit, and have fun!

Exercise Equipment

Yeah, we all know Barbie doesn’t need to work out, since she already has an impossible figure. But, if your little one thinks Barbie needs to stay in shape, you can help her make some exercise equipment. You can make a simple jump rope by different color strands of embroidery floss together. The strands should be about 12” long. Leave some loose threads at each end (about an inch each) and attach long, cylindrical beads to the ends for jump rope handles.

If Barbie is into weights, you can make tiny dumbbells so she can do some curls. Pick up pink cotton swabs, cut the cottony parts off, and glue pink, round beads on each end. Make a couple short ones and one long one.

Furnishings

We’ve done other furnishings before (see related articles), but what about an upholstered ottoman? Yep, Barbie needs to keep her décor updated, so this will make a great touch. Save a tuna can, clean it thoroughly, and make sure its dry. Stuff it with fiberfill, cover it with fabric, and glue the fabric to the bottom. Add trim if you like, and glue tiny buttons onto the top, or one larger one in the center, to mimic tufting.
