Many home-based businesses are one person operations. For a lot of the owners of these singular sensations, they wouldn’t have it any other way. There is a certain degree of freedom that comes from working for yourself, by yourself. Of course, this limits the amount of work that you can take on, but surprisingly it does not have to necessarily limit the amount of money that you can make.
There are a few ways that you can make room for your home-based business to grow without moving into an office or hiring staff. One suggestion that can be applied to multiple areas of your business is making wise use of technology. Do a little research to see what kinds of technological tools and services could be of use to your business. Perhaps call forwarding could help you by enabling you to receive business calls on your cell phone when you are out and about without requiring that you give your clients your private cell phone number. Maybe scheduling your e-newsletter or blog post notifications to go out automatically via email could save you a little time. Could online meetings be useful to you? There are many different tech tools out there that could help to free up more time for you to do more work.
Another way to keep your home-based business growing without giving up your solo status is to stay focused on your goals. Chances are, at least one of your goals involves growing your business, making more money, or something like that. Keeping a list of your goals handy and referring to it often can help you to avoid getting stuck in a rut, accepting the same types of work over and over and not making the advances that you had planned to. Take a little time each week to look for ways to implement your goals, such as learning new, higher paying skills or finding new projects.
