Summer Mini Album

Making mini albums is a great way to showcase a few favorite photos from a related event or theme. They are a nice project for beginning scrapbookers because this can be a very simple project and it is fun to have a completed project right away. More advance scrapbookers enjoy mini albums because they can try out new technique that they may not try on a layout. Whatever stage you are at in scrapbooking, I hope that you will find some idea here that you want to try out.

Today I want to share ideas for a 2.5-inch by 7-inch album, although these ideas can also be applied to other small albums. The album I used was 7 Gypsies Sketch Book. This was so fun to work with; I’m going to have to get more.

Here are a few tips to remember when putting a spiral bound album together.

*Pull the album cover and pages off of the spiral binding before starting.

* Cover one side of the album cover or page with paper, and then punch holes using the prepunched holes are a guide.

* The holes in this album were square, but I only had a circle punch. The circle punch works just fine.

* Use modge podge to cover the paper on the cover to increase durability. You may also want to use it on the inside on the album since these pages don’t have page protectors.

Here are a few themes for albums of this size that I’ve come up with.

Favorite Summer Activities (or any other season.) This is the theme I chose for my album. Here are a few pictures.

Collection of favorite recipes

Child’s favorite parts of his/her bedroom

Favorite parts of your house

Friends

Feature your child’s favorite toys

Here are a couple of pictures of my album. I have left some of the pages without pictures so that I can continue to add them throughout the summer.

With an album this size, remember to keep it simple since your space is so limited. It was fun to make such a different sized album and I challenge to you give it a try too!
