With summer just around the corner you can bank on the fact that there will be at least one movie that you absolutely must see… every week.
Whether you are a fan of Will Smith, Adam Sandler, Sarah Jessica Parker, Ben Stiller, Heath Ledger or Jack Black you will be in hog heaven this summer when your favorite actors and actresses hit the big screen in what are being called the biggest movies of the year.
Check out what will be waiting for you at theaters this summer:
AUGUST 1: “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.” Brendan Fraser fans will get a double dose of the hunky star this summer in “Journey to the Center of the Earth” and “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor.” The latter is the third outing for the adventuresome film family led by Fraser and his British wife played by Maria Bello (she replaces Rachel Weisz who was Fraser’s wife in the first installment). In the movie the couple is coming out of retirement to join their grown son on a dig in China. While there they end up battling an ancient ruler (Jet Li) who springs back to life aiming to conquer the world.
AUGUST 8: “The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants 2.” TV stars America Ferrera, Amber Tamblyn, Alexis Bledel and Blake Lively are back as the gal pals who like to share a particular piece of clothing. In their latest outing three years have passed and the girls have just finished their first year of college, and “we kind of come back together to realize everyone’s growing in a lot of different directions,” Bledel said in a recent interview. “It’s about the four of us finding our unique selves but finding a way to keep this relationship that means so much to us.” If you are looking for a fun film about female relationships this is the chick flick for you.
AUGUST 15: “Tropic Thunder.” Ben Stiller wears many hats in this summer movie about pampered, hapless actors who go off to make a Vietnam War movie and get caught in a real battle. Stiller serves as co-writer, director and star in the comedy that also features Robert Downey Jr. as a white actor portraying a black character and Tom Cruise as a bald, raving studio boss with hilarious dance moves. (Did I mention Jack Black is also one of the stars?) The actors playing actors end up shooting a movie in the jungle where they find themselves being pitted against brutal drug smugglers—for real.
