When I was little I spent a lot of time at the library. It was right downtown in our foothill village. I could ride my bicycle there myself. I especially loved the summer reading program.
When Chris and I first got married we lived in a cozy townhouse in Huntington Beach. The Huntington Beach library was impressive. There were waterfalls inside. It was such a peaceful place to be and I wanted to share it with children. Little did I know that we’d own four houses in three cities in two states before children happened for us.
Now that we have children, I have not been sharing the library with them. We have an abundance of books at home and love to read. But the library offers so much more than that. It’s free and easy entertainment.
Before Jessie, when we still had Baby Pumpkin, I took Pumpkin to story time at Barnes & Noble. It was so much fun and I met so many moms. I don’t know why I didn’t do it again. It was free. I didn’t need to buy the Starbucks just because I was there. Storytime is every Tuesday and Wednesday morning at 10:30 at the Barnes & Noble store close to us. We can definitely take part.
The school sent home a paper with the summer reading programs for the area libraries. There are two libraries close by to choose from. The public library in Wylie is starting its summer reading program on June 6 and Big Kid Storytime for ages 3-5 is Wednesdays at 10:30 and 11:15. The Rockwall library is having a big kickoff event on June 6 too. Preschool storytime for ages 3-6 is Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday at 11:15 and Tuesday at 10:15 too. I see a lot of free story times in our summer.
