Sunday Service

Sundays are a wonderful and special day. It is a time to worship and to renew our covenants with God. It is also a time to rest and be at home with our family. Sometimes it may be hard to distinguish Sundays from other days of the week, if you find that your family comes home and disappears to all parts of the house. You can call them back together by performing some simple acts of Sunday service.

One of the best acts of service you can provide as a family on Sundays is to invite a single member or a married couple over for dinner. This gives them a change of scenery but you get to spend some time together discussing the gospel and other blessings that you have. It may also give you a chance to form friendships with people that you might not normally get to know.

Another act of Sunday service is writing letters to missionaries. You can do this as a family. If you have a missionary in your family, you may want to each write your own letter to your missionary. Or you could spend the Sunday writing to missionaries from your ward. You could each write a paragraph or share a spiritual thought, and simply pass the letters around the room giving everyone five minutes to write each letter.

Another fun act of Sunday service is to bake cookies or some other dessert and deliver it to a family or another member of your ward. You can choose to do this anonymously or you could just simply drop it off. This will give your family the chance to be together as you prepare and deliver the treat to others in the ward.

One more act of Sunday service is to take the time to visit members of your ward that may not be able to make it to Sacrament meetings for various reasons. This can really bolster them up. It is also nice to visit extended family, if you have any nearby, on Sundays. Spending time together as a family is a great way to keep the Sabbath day holy.
