Are you ready for some football? It’s almost Super Bowl time and for most of us that means company and lots of food. It’s also another excuse to clean your house, although not quite as thoroughly as for the holidays, after all, there will be a mess when everyone goes home.
I usually just focus on the rooms everyone will be in, the family room, the kitchen and the bathroom. Make sure there are plenty of coasters, napkins and toilet paper. Since there will be lots of food in the family room make sure that you are ready for the inevitable spills. If you have a clean up kit ready before the big game spills can be taken care of quickly. I try to put rags and carpet cleaner in a tote and hide it in the corner so it’s already in the room when it’s needed.
Paper plates should be sturdy since they will be carried around and placed on laps and table tops. You don’t want them collapsing or leaking on everyone’s pants.
Napkins are essential, cloth or paper is up to you, just make sure you have plenty. I don’t usually like disposable cups and plates but at a time like this plastic cups are better than glasses. You don’t want to be cleaning up broken glass when a drink gets knocked over.
Make sure your bathroom is ready for guests as well. Put the toilet paper in an easy to find spot and make sure you have plenty of hand soap and towels.
If you want to be really considerate get some Shout wipes for those spills down someone’s favorite shirt. If you are going to have kids there try to set up an special area in the kitchen for them to eat so they won’t feel banished from the family room while they eat.
Most of all, relax and have fun, after all Super Bowl only comes once a year.
