Super Simple Cheese Snacks for Your Holiday Party

These aren’t your typical boring cheese and cracker snacks. Rather, the following super simple recipes (super simple because most can be made in three steps or less) are both eye and palate pleasing.

The main ingredient is fresh cheese. If you live in a smaller town you might consider shopping at a specialty cheese store to get the fresh Brie needed for the following snacks. However, if you reside in a larger city you can get all the ingredients at Whole Foods or your favorite major grocery chain.

JARLSBERG CHEESE SPREAD

Ingredients:

2 cups Jarlsberg cheese, shredded

1 to 2 cups diced onion

2 cups mayonnaise

Directions:

Mix all ingredients and bake at 375 degrees for 20 minutes, uncovered.

Then, serve with crackers or miniature Rye bread.

HOLIDAY BRIE

Ingredients:

6 ounces Brie log

Fig spread

Directions:

Slice Brie log and top with fig spread.

Note: If you can’t find fig spread, then slice Brie, and top with honey and a raspberry.

HOLIDAY BRIE BAKE

Ingredients:

8 ounces Brie

1 sheet Pillsbury pie crusts

Directions:

Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Place Brie on pastry, slightly off center and trim off the extra crust.

Shape extra crescents into strips. Fold pastry around the cheese and flip over.

Garnish top with strips.

Bake for 16 to 20 minutes.

Serve warm.

CHEESE AND ALMOND BALL

Ingredients:

8 oz. of cream cheese, softened

8 oz. of sharp cold pack cheese food

1 cup of sharp cheddar cheese, shredded

1 cup of toasted sliced almonds

2 tablespoons of chopped parsley

1 tablespoon of grated onion

Directions:

Mix the cheese, milk, onion and 3/4 cup of toasted almonds until well blended. Chill at least one hour.

Shape into a ball; then wrap in waxed paper and refrigerate overnight.

Chop the remaining almonds and add the parsley.

Roll the ball in the almond and parsley mixture.

Rewrap the ball until ready for use.

Remove from refrigerator about one hour before serving, unwrap and allow to come to room temperature.

Serve with crackers.
