The Swedish Royal Couple, Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel, are the parents of a newborn daughter. This daughter, (whose name has not yet been publicly released), could one day become the Queen of Sweden. The Swedish line of succession is shorter than the British one is.
Crown Princess Victoria is second in line to the Swedish throne. Her father is His Majesty Carl XVI Gustaf, King of Sweden. He has been the reigning King of Sweden since September of 1973, when he succeeded his grandfather, King Gustav VI Adolf.
In 1980, His Majesty Carl XVI Gustaf, King of Sweden, created a new law that established absolute primogeniture. This was the first of this type of law that had ever been passed in European history. Previous to this law, only the male heirs of a King could be included in the line of succession. After the law was passed, both male and female heirs could be included.
The mother of Crown Princess Victoria is Queen Silvia of Sweden. Her full title is Her Majesty The Queen. She also has the title of Queen Consort of King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden. She is also called the mother of the heir apparent to the throne, (which is her daughter, Crown Princess Victoria).
The full title for the Princess is Victoria, Crown Princess of Sweden, Duchess of Västergötland. Her full name is Victoria Ingrid Alice Désirée. She was born in 1977, and is the eldest child of King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia. She was officially designated Crown Princess in 1979, ahead of her younger brother.
In 2010, Crown Princess Victoria married Daniel Westling. He was her personal trainer. When the two got married, Daniel was officially given the title of Prince of Sweden, and the title Royal Highness. He also was given the title of Duke of Västergötland. This made him an official member the Swedish Royal Family. This was something new for royal male consorts in Sweden.
Crown Princess Victoria and Prince Daniel are now the parents of a brand new baby girl. The name of this royal baby has not yet been released to the press. She has the title of Princess, and could someday become Queen of Sweden.
The line of succession to the Swedish throne is much shorter than the line of succession to the British throne. The present monarch on the Swedish throne is His Majesty King Carl XVI Gustaf. Next in line is Her Royal Highness Crown Princess Victoria, Duchess of Västergötland. Second in line is the newborn princess Her Royal Majesty (insert name here), Princess of Sweden.
Third in line is His Royal Majesty Prince Carl Philip, Duke of Värmland. He is the younger brother of Crown Princess Victoria. She was born in 1977, and he was born in 1979. Fourth in the line of succession is Her Royal Majesty Madeline, Duchess of Hälsingland and Gästrikland. She is the sister of Crown Princess Victoria, and Prince Carl Philip, and she was born in 1982.
