It’s not exactly a snow day, but schools in our area are closed for a second day in a row thanks to -40 windchills. Which means that parents and caregivers of rambunctious kids suffering from cabin fever are likely in desperate need of boredom busters now more than ever.
Sweet treats to the rescue! The following simple edible crafts will keep kids busy for hours… and the best part–clean up is a breeze.

NO BAKE PEANUT BUTTER SNOWMAN COOKIES
Ingredients:
1 package (16 ounces) Nutter butter cookies
20 ounce bag white chocolate chips
Miniature chocolate chips
M & M miniature baking bits
Pretzel sticks, halved
Orange and red decorating gel
Directions:
Melt white chocolate chips in microwave about 1 minute, stir, repeat in 10 second intervals until smooth.
Using tongs, dip cookies in white chocolate, shake off excess. Place on waxed paper.
Place two chocolate chips on one end of cookies for eyes.
Place baking bits down middle for buttons.
For arms, dip ends of two pretzel stick halves into melted chocolate and attach one to each side. Let stand until hardened.
Use gel to pipe on nose and scarf.
EDIBLE SNOWMAN FACES
Ingredients:
1/4 cup vanilla frosting
1 (14 oz) package of white fudge covered chocolate sandwich cookies
1 tablespoon miniature chocolate chips
10 small gumdrops
Several orange gumdrops
Red decorating gel
Directions:
Place frosting in small Ziploc food storage bag and cut a tiny hole in a bottom corner of the bag.
On each cookie, use small amount of frosting to attach chocolate chips for eyes. Cut each gumdrop in half; attach cut sides with frosting to sides of cookie to resemble earmuffs.
Attach small wedge cut from orange gumdrops for nose.
Draw mouth with red decorating gel.
Let dry about 30 minutes.
Makes 20 snowman faces.
