Mamma Jolie Takes a Break Angelina Jolie has won an Academy Award, but her priorities now seem to be her family. She has announced that she will be taking a year off from acting to spend more time with significant other Brad Pitt and their four children, Maddox, Pax, Zahara, and Shiloh. Jolie said she would be in Prague for a few months this summer, and then take two months off. Working two more months after that, she plans to start her yearlong break. Charitable Celebrities—Blood, Sweat, and Tears

In my previous blog “Hottie with a Hammer” I chronicled Brad Pitt’s charitable work. Recently, one of PEOPLE magazine’s “Sexiest Men Alive” joined forces in Western India with former President Jimmy Carter and his wife Rosalynn as part of a Habitat for Humanity program. Pitt swung a hammer to help build a new house for a local family in need. Angelina Jolie—A Death in the Family

Angelina Jolie is in mourning today. According to news sources, the actress’s mother, Marcheline Bertrand, died on Saturday at a Los Angeles hospital. Bertrand was 56-years-old. In a statement Jolie issued to the media she said her mother had battled cancer for nearly 8 years, but in the end the deadly disease won out. The statement went on to say that Angelina along with her partner, Brad Pitt, and her brother, James Haven were with Bertrand when she passed away. “Marcheline was beautiful, caring and totally devoted to her children. Forget about Tom and Katie’s big, fat, Italian weekend wedding… crowds were also gathering for today’s planned nuptials of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie. Not the real Brangelina—the wax version of the couple was supposed exchange vows at Madame Tussards Wax Museum in Las Vegas today, but the big event has been nixed thanks to Pitt’s legal staff.
