Interview with NBC’s East Coast Sportscaster, Vai Sikahema – Part 3

I don’t about you, but I’m inspired by the strength, humility and righteousness of this man – I know I already mentioned it before, but hey, it bears repeating again. Here is more of his interview. 5. You served a mission in South Dakota, predominantly among the peoples of the Sioux Nation. Can you share some experiences of what that was like and how it helped you to grow? When I left on my mission in February of ’82, I had played two seasons for BYU. As an 18-year-old freshman, I returned a punt 83 yards in the 1980 SMU … Continue reading

Interview with NBC’s East Coast Sportscaster, Vai Sikahema – Part 1

Vai is a very dear friend and old college buddy of my husband’s, consequently he is a very dear friend of mine. He agreed to do this interview, I am certain, out of friendship. From NBC10’s website we catch up with what Vai has been doing since leaving college, professionally: “Vai Sikahema, sports director/anchor for NBC 10 News at 4, 5, 6 and 11pm, joined WCAU in April 1994. Previously, he was … Continue reading

My Day at Cougar Nation

I know, I know — it’s a stretch tying BYU Football to Family Home Evening. But come on, it could work! Bronco Mendenhall, the coach of the BYU Cougars Football team, hosted a day for the football alumni yesterday. What a blast it was to see old friends, legends and new acquaintances. I stood between my husband and 1965’s running back, Mr. Swanson (either Dave or LaVern), as we watched the Cougars scrimmage. Here’s the joke I was told: “What happens to people who say shoot? They go to heck.” Corny, yes. But did it make me laugh, yes. It … Continue reading

BYU Football – Spring Ball

Okay, this is going to be a short one. My last two blogs have been a little bit lengthy. I know BYU football isn’t a category here — but hey, is there anything more intrinsic with the LDS family than BYU sports? Today, my husband and I are going to check out the scrimmage that ends BYU’s Spring Football just before the Blue and White game takes place on Saturday. Why? Because we love BYU football. We’re excited for the year to come and the changes which took place in the coaching staff last year. We have a dear friend … Continue reading
