Numerous publications and websites have been running photos of the emaciated crooner in recent weeks with captions that made fun of his frail and skeletal appearance. Sappiest Ballads of All Time

Oh, you know the songs I am talking about – the ones that are really, really sentimental and foolish, but you often secretly listen to them anyhow because they are just so dang catchy. Let’s take a look at what I think are some of the sappiest ballads of all time: “Lost in Your Eyes” by Debbie Gibson She may be Deborah Gibson now, but nothing can ever separate her from this cheesy ballad that contained lyrics such as “I get weak in a glance, isn’t this what’s called romance?” and “Ooh, when I first knew, was when I first … Continue reading

The Cube Challenge

Remember the Rubik’s Cube? If you grew up in the 1980s you likely were as addicted to the mechanical puzzle as I was. The colorful 3×3 cube invented in 1974 by engineer Erno Rubik ignited a pop culture craze in the decade made famous by Michael Jackson’s “Thriller” and plastic jelly shoes. Today, those same jelly shoes have gone out of fashion, but the popularity of the Rubik’s cube lives on. In fact, this weekend, hundreds of puzzle junkies are in Budapest for the fourth annual Rubik’s Cube world championship–a three-day event offering big prizes to people who can solve … Continue reading

Barry’s Bedside Good Luck Charm

Did you watch the Emmy Awards on Sunday night? If you did, then you likely saw the show’s touching tribute in honor of the legendary Dick Clark. As a part of the tribute to Clark, singer (and pop culture icon) Barry Manilow performed “Bandstand Boogie,” the theme from Dick Clark’s “American Bandstand.” Shortly after Manilow finished his song he embraced Clark and they exited the stage. But, only a few minutes later Manilow was back front and center to accept an Emmy for outstanding individual performance in a variety or music program for a show he did on PBS. Manilow’s … Continue reading

He was drawn to music from an early age and with much perseverance, mastered both the accordion and the piano, which would serve him well … Continue reading

Rubik’s Cube – Can You Solve the Puzzle?

Do you remember the Rubik’s Cube? Believe it or not, it recently celebrated its 25th anniversary. I personally could never solve the cube unless I pulled off the colored stickers and rearranged them. When I tried to work it the proper way, I usually got frustrated after a few minutes and quit. However, over the years, millions have had fun solving the mystery of the Rubik’s Cube. Some believe it is the most popular selling toy ever, with over 100 million sold (including both the original and imitations). The Rubik’s Cube was actually invented in 1974 by Hungarian professor Erno … Continue reading
