Can’t we all just get along? There is a major disturbance going on in the Australian zoo created by the late Steve “Crocodile Hunter” Irwin… only it doesn’t involve feisty animals. According to Australian TV reports, Irwin’s father, Bob, said he quit the family’s Australian conservation park because he had become a “disrupting influence.” That’s his story anyway. Since “Crocodile Hunter” Steve Irwin’s tragic death in 2006, the conservationist’s 9-year-old daughter Bindi has replaced him in the media spotlight. The family of the late Crocodile Hunter Steve Irwin — wife Terri and daughter Bindi — are making 2008 their year for a campaign against Japanese whaling. After Steve Irwin’s death in 2007, Terri Irwin purchased a whale watching business. That whale watching business will help launch the Irwin family’s anti-whaling project. Terri’s goal is to demonstrate that whale research can be done without killing — Japanese whalers continue to hunt and kill humpbacks in the name of science. ABC’s “The View” is on now and I just heard Rosie O’Donnell mention that her 6-year-old son (a dedicated Steve Irwin fan) hasn’t gotten into the water since The Crocodile Hunter’s death last month. Apparently, Rosie took her kids to Florida and while the rest of the family swam in the ocean, her son Blake stayed dry–too afraid to plunge into the warm waters for fear he too may be bit by a stingray like his hero Irwin.
