Do You Watch “The Early Show?”

Now that CBS execs are fairly certain Katie Couric is staying anchored at the evening news desk they have decided to place their energy into bolstering their other last place news show—“The Early Show.” Have you heard of it? Seriously, if you look at the ratings you have to wonder if people even know it is on the air. CBS News execs are now hoping to change that. Just a few days ago they made a public announcement saying they are looking to make the perennially last-place morning program more competitive by revamping its format and abandoning the way it … Continue reading

Rosie a Successor to Bob Barker?

Michele and I have written many blogs about Bob Barker ending his successful run on “The Price is Right.” After all, as Bob has said, he is 83 and wants to retire before he gets too old. So the big question is…who is going to replace him? There have been all types of rumors as to who the next host might be. My favorite is Mario Lopez. That would certainly have me tuning in every day or at least setting the DVR to record the show! But, it does not seem that he is a true candidate. Michele had mentioned … Continue reading

Another Good Show Cancelled

I hate CBS. Okay, I don’t really hate CBS, but I am beginning to get annoyed with the major networks in general. It seems that each time I become interested in a show, they cancel it. Now, maybe you would say my viewing judgment is lacking, but honestly, it seems that lately, the executives at the network rarely give a show a chance. Case in point – CBS just cancelled “Jericho.” I have loved “Jericho” every since it started. In the beginning, it pulled in decent ratings. I watched faithfully, even after a cowardly CBS pulled it for almost three … Continue reading

Newest Reality Show Has Celebs Toting Guns

I will be the first to admit that I love reality shows. I do not watch them all, but I am definitely a fan of many – perhaps too many for my own good. But when I read about CBS’ newest reality show “Armed and Famous,” I have to admit I was a bit scared. In this show, celebrities are sworn in to protect the law as reserve police officers of the town of Muncie, Indiana (population 66,000). This past Tuesday, about 200 townspeople showed up at the Muncie City Hall auditorium to see the stars sworn in. Whom can … Continue reading

The Early Show Loses Rene Syler

If you are a fan of CBS’ “The Early Show,” you may be saddened to hear that co-anchor Rene Syler will be leaving at the end of this month. Rene has said she had a great run with “The Early Show,” but she will be leaving to purse other media opportunities. Her last show will be December 22, 2006. Rene was born at the Scott Air Force Base in Illinois, but she grew up in Sacramento, CA. She received a degree in Psychology from California State University in Sacramento in 1987. Rene started her career as a weekend reporter for … Continue reading

Jericho’s Skeet Ulrich

Although the subject is a bit depressing (the apocalypse), CBS certain seems to have a hit on its hands with the new show “Jericho.” It is my favorite fall show, even though each episode is so edgy that I usually spend the whole hour biting my nails. One of the main reasons I decided to tune in to begin with was its star, Skeet Ulrich. I didn’t realize it until I started researching Skeet’s movie career, but I have seen many of his movies since he first started acting. I saw his third film The Craft, where he played bad … Continue reading

Legendary TV Journalist Dies

Ed Bradley, a 25-year veteran of the CBS news magazine “60 Minutes,” has died. In an on-air announcement, “CBS Evening News” anchor Katie Couric said Bradley died yesterday from complications of leukemia. He was 65. It didn’t take long for many of Bradley’s co-workers to publicly speak out about the legendary journalist. His “60 Minutes” colleague, Mike Wallace, said on CBS News Radio that Bradley was “a reporter’s reporter.” While, the creator and former producer of “60 Minutes,” Don Hewitt, said Bradley was a reporter who got along with “people of every stripe.” According to his CBS biography, Bradley was … Continue reading

Miss Your Favorite TV Show?

I really enjoy watching the show “How I Met Your Mother”. Unfortunately I usually find myself away from home Monday nights when it airs, and realize about the time it would be ending that I have forgotten to set my VCR. Understanding my plight CBS along with NBC and ABC have started to make episodes of their popular television programs available to watch on the Internet with a few clicks of a mouse. Most of the programs are only available to watch for one week before they are replaced by the most recent episode, so you have to keep up … Continue reading

Everybody Loves Charlie

I enjoy watching “Two and a Half Men” on CBS. Normally, I am pretty much an NBC girl, but my dad told me how funny this show was and now I watch regularly. I’ve always been a fan of both Charlie Sheen and Jon Cryer and their opposite styles of humor never fail to crack me up. Apparently, I am not the only one they are cracking up. I read today that Charlie Sheen is ready to finalize his new contract with CBS and it will reportedly make him the highest paid sitcom star on television today. It is kinda … Continue reading

Katie’s Big Week

Looks like the hype paid off. Katie Couric’s historic debut as the first female solo anchor of a nightly newscast hit the mark. At least that’s what the ratings show. As for her performance reviews—well, it seems everyone’s a critic. Four days after one of the most talked-about debuts in television history Couric is sitting on top of the heap. Opening night she blasted the competition. According to Neilsen Media Research, nearly 13.6 million people watched Couric’s debut–that’s nearly double the average audience for the “CBS Evening News” last week, and the program’s biggest audience since February 16, 1998, in … Continue reading
