Many people struggle with the concept of tithing. Ten percent is a significant portion of your income. Many people become resentful of the money that they pay for tithing. Since we are now saved by grace and by what Jesus did for us by dying on the cross, are the Ten Commandments irrelevant? I believe we can learn a lot from God’s blueprint for life. Exodus 20:1-17 1. In his talk “Wherefore, Settle This in Your Hearts” Elder Larry W Gibbons speaks about the importance of keeping the commandments. He shares that the commandments are not meant as restrictions but rather as guideposts that will lead to happiness if we choose to follow them. Elder Gibbons stresses the importance of recognizing that the commandments are there to help us to be happy.
