The Pop Culture Week in Review – September 5, 2009

As we all get ready to head into a long Labor Day weekend, I am going to take time to review the pop culture events that happened over the last week. Two celebrities were buried this weekend. Michael Jackson’s body finally got to its eternal resting place after almost 10 weeks. The singer was buried in a private ceremony at the Great Mausoleum at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Glendale, California. Like in life, Michael will be surrounded by stars in death. Also buried at the cemetery are Jimmy Stewart, George Burns, Errol Flynn, Spencer Tracy, Humphrey Bogart, and Dorothy Dandridge. … Continue reading

DJ AM Dead at 36

I came home from a night out with friends and read the headline that DJ AM (Adam Goldstein) was found dead in his Manhattan apartment. Friends reported not hearing from him for two days and police broke the door down to find his lifeless body. Great, Ted Kennedy, Dominick Dunne, and now DJ AM – the death in threes theory continues! Yes, the same guy that seemed lucky to survive the fiery plane crash in South Carolina last September is dead at the age of 36. Tragedy and Relationships

By now you have probably seen the video showing the horrific plane crash that claimed the lives of former Blink-182 drummer Travis Barker’s assistant, his bodyguard and the pilot and co-pilot on board the Learjet that exploded into a fireball in South Carolina late Friday night. Reality TV Star Critically Injured in Plane Crash

He shot to fame as Blink 182’s mega-tattooed drummer and continued to keep his name in the headlines when he allowed MTV to document his marriage to former Miss USA Shanna Moakler on “Meet the Barkers,” now Travis Barker is fighting for his life in a Georgia hospital. The musician along with popular disc jockey DJ AM (whose real name is Adam Goldstein) are in critical but stable condition after their private jet crashed upon take off from a South Carolina airport late last night.
