Caspian Really Mixes It Up

The Chronicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian is scheduled to be released in just ten months, in May of 2008. While that may seem like an entire school year away, it’s still just around the corner in movie-making time. The film is a follow-up to the enormously successful: The Lion, The Witch, and the Wardrobe and although Caspian is technically the 4th book, it does feature the children from the first and unfortunately, unlike their literary counterparts, they age normally. It has been 1300 years since the children last stepped through the Wardrobe and an evil king named Miraz is preventing … Continue reading

They’re Here – The Pirates Have Landed!

Unless you were living under a box this weekend, you could hardly miss the thud of the third Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End landing on multiplex screens all over the country. Fair warning parents, I don’t know that this movie is just the right thing for the really little ones. Leroy and Stitch is an animated film that concludes the Lilo & Stitch series that aired on the Disney channel from 2003 to 2006. The series was a spin-off of 2002’s Lilo & Stitch and followed the adventures of Lilo; the Hawaiian girl who befriended Stitch, an experiment gone awry and their friendship helped them both to overcome … Continue reading

Who Let the Dogs Out? (The Shaggy Dog)

The Shaggy Dog is another example of Disney mining its cinematic vaults to bring classic films to modern audiences. While I know there are several people who object to remakes when the classics are excellent films, I am not one of them. Like Herbie Fully Loaded last year, The Shaggy Dog let me introduce my daughter to a classic in a modern setting. The film stars Tim Allen (Tool Man Tim, The Santa Clause 1 & 2) and my daughter adores him. From the first time she saw the trailer, she asked if we could go. The film is rated … Continue reading
