Dixie Chicks’ Natalie Maines Sued

The lead singer for the Dixie Chicks, Natalie Maines, is being sued by Terry Hobbs. Now, the name Terry Hobbs might not be familiar to you, but if I were to say the stepfather of Steven Branch, one of the victims of the West Memphis Three murders, you might remember his name. The West Memphis Three was a horrific murder case that happened just across the Mississippi River in 1993 when I lived in Memphis, Tennessee. There was several celebrity splits announced this week- some were the end of a marriage and one was the end of a business relationship. Morgan Freeman was lucky to get out of a car wreck in one piece earlier this week. The 71 year old actor suffered a broken arm, broken elbow, and injured shoulder after rolling a car in Mississippi. It’s hip to be pregnant in Tinseltown… just ask Dixie Chick Martie Maguire. The singer who has publicly shared her fertility struggles with fans confirmed she and her husband are expecting another baby. The 38-year-old country music star and her professor husband are already parents to twin daughters Eva Ruth and Kathleen Emilie, who were born in April 2004. Willie Nelson Defends the Dixie Chicks

Willie Nelson thinks the Dixie Chicks got a “raw deal” because their criticism of President Bush has seemingly affected concert ticket sales. In case you don’t remember or know the whole story, lead singer for the Dixie Chicks Natalie Maines told London concert goers “Just so you know, we’re ashamed the President of the United States is from Texas.” That was three years ago, but the backlash still seems to be in effect even though Maines issued a statement of apology to the President on their web page shortly after the comment.
