Tips for Scrapbooking Summer Camp Experiences

It seems only fitting with my two teen children off at summer camp for a week long sleepover adventure, that I would take on this topic. There will probably be more to say when they return home as well as layouts to share, and then the younger kids go next month so I am sure they will do things differently. Summer camp is often a great memory of your childhood so it should definitely be scrapbooked. Here are some ideas for doing so. Send a camera with them. It doesn’t have to be a fancy expensive camera, a disposable is … Continue reading

My Personal Scrap Space – The Mess

At the end of May, I told you I would begin showing you my scrapbook area in a more personal way, so you could see the studio where I work, and see how I organize and store things. Sometimes it is nice to get a glimpse into the life of another scrapbooker and see how they do things. I believe it can help to see an organizational system that works, so you can implement it too. So here it is the middle of June and I haven’t bothered to show you any more of my space. Why is that? Because … Continue reading

Scrapbooking Supply Finds at Garage Sales

Ever the princess of frugal, I am always on the look out for good bargains and deals at garage sales, that I can actually use. I avoid purchasing anything if I don’t have an immediate use for it, or I cannot see the long term benefit of buying it. Recently I have attended many garage sales with scrapbooking supplies, and have been very fortunate to pick up some awesome deals on things I will most definitely use. That seems not only frugal to me, but a fun find as well. I got pretty lucky on the first weekend we attempted … Continue reading

The Idea Book Dilemma

It almost seems that every time I open the pages of some of my favorite scrapbooking magazines, or visit my favorite scrapbooking spots on the Internet, I am hearing about a new must-have idea book. If I purchased them all, not only could I own my own bookstore but I would never be able to purchase anything else. So how do you know if an idea book is worth it, and how do you get the best deal? Read on. How do you know it is worth it? You ask. Simple and easy, but very necessary – ask around. See … Continue reading

Morgan Spurlock Spends “30 Days” in a Coal Mine

I have blogged before about my love for the FX Network reality show “30 Days.” This show is done by filmmaker Morgan Spurlock (the guy that did SuperSize Me and it puts one person in another person’s shoes for 30 days. Sometimes it is a random person and sometimes it is Morgan living the other life for 30 days. Last night was the season premiere and Morgan decided to work 30 days as a coal miner. After all, Morgan is from West Virginia – a state known for its coal mining. And, I have to admit, before I watched the … Continue reading

Scrapbooking Week in Review for May 26 – June 1, 2008

Summer has finally arrived. The humidity level in the Midwest has made it difficult to enjoy being outdoors during the main daylight hours, so I have tried to play catch up on some scrapbooking. We have also had plenty of events lately that have called for some handmade cards so I have been busy churning those out as well. I will be sharing the How To directions for those in the upcoming week. In the meantime, catch up on some reading in case you missed these in the Scrapbooking Blog this week. How Do I Find Time To Scrapbook? School’s … Continue reading

How Do I Find Time To Scrapbook?

School’s officially out for the summer, the children are home full-time, and unless they are in a rigorous camp program, you are bound to be entertaining at some point. Most people assume that when summer approaches, they will have more time to relax, more time to do the things they want to do, this isn’t always true. Summertime brings people outside, through camping trips and swimming, camp programs and fairs and carnivals, and the list goes on and on. Summertime is statistically the time when the most people enjoy being outdoors. As we all know, scrapbooking is not really an … Continue reading

Layout Challenge – Seeing Double

Challenges can sometimes get us to create layouts and work on memories that we might not have done otherwise. It is my favorite part about doing challenges; the ability to think outside the box and get some scrapbooking done at the same time. This week’s challenge is a ‘Seeing Double’ theme. It isn’t so much about a certain product or a certain type of layout or theme. It’s more about interpreting the theme ‘seeing double’ or something in two’s. Remember this could be photographs you have of two objects or two people. It could be embellishments you decide to use. … Continue reading

My Personal Scrap Space

Every scrapbooker dreams of having their own space to sit and create. Some are lucky enough to have a dedicated space, and some have to be content to use closets, share rooms or simply pull it out every time they wish to scrap. Once upon a time, in a land far away. Okay, well only about two and a half years ago and not really so far away, about two miles up the road. I lived in a house where I truly had my own dedicated scrap space. It was spare bedroom and I had it painted all pretty and … Continue reading
