Dog Returns to TV… Again

And you thought cats were the only ones who had nine lives… Bounty hunter Duane “Dog” Chapman is proving that he has as much staying power as his feline friends. The reality TV show star has been given yet another chance from execs at A&E, the cable network that broadcasts his show “Dog the Bounty Hunter” following his boot from its lineup last year. Network execs just confirmed that “Dog” will return to the air this summer, months after his show was pulled because of the reality star’s brouhaha featuring his use of a racial slur in a profanity-laced tirade. … Continue reading

Dog’s Apology–Too Little Too Late?

Can you really teach old dogs new tricks? Bounty hunter Duane “Dog” Chapman says yes, and he’s starting with this one: eliminating the N-word from his vocabulary. For those of you who haven’t been following Dog’s latest drama, the 54-year-old has been walking around with his tail between his legs ever since a private phone conservation of him using the racial slur (more than a dozen times) was released by his son to The National Enquirer. The recorded conversation in which Chapman uses the N-word to describe his son’s girlfriend led A&E to pull Dog’s reality show from its schedule. … Continue reading

“Dog” Back in the Doghouse

Duane “Dog” Chapman is going to have a hard time getting out of the doghouse this time… The TV bounty hunter put his foot in his mouth and is now putting his tail between his legs as he desperately tries to apologize for using the N-word repeatedly in a profanity-laced tirade during a private phone conversation with his son that was recorded and posted online. If being caught (by the National Enquirer of all publications) wasn’t bad enough, reports now say that A&E, the network that airs Chapman’s hit reality series, has suspended production of “Dog the Bounty Hunter” despite … Continue reading

REESE’S NEW GIG Just call her the Avon lady. It’s a new title actress Reese Witherspoon is embracing; though don’t expect her to be ringing your doorbell anytime soon. The Oscar-winning actress has been selected as the company’s first-ever global ambassador. According to the cosmetics company, the 31-year-old mother of two will serve as honorary chairman of the Avon Foundation, which focuses on high-profile issues involving women, including breast cancer and domestic violence. Witherspoon told reporters gathered at the announcement ceremony that accepting the new … Continue reading

Celebrity Corner—All Gone!

In my previous blog: “Celebrity Corner–Going, Going, Gone” I made a remark about Billy Ray Cyrus’ miraculous longevity on ABC’s “Dancing with the Stars.” Last night his run on the dance competition came to an end and now he is GONE! But, he isn’t alone. Recently, a number of other celebrities have gotten the boot (or decided to leave on their own) from a variety of venues: Duane “Dog” Chapman and his wife were given the boot from a United Airlines flight early Monday morning after they allegedly yelled and swore at a flight attendant. According to news reports, Los … Continue reading

Bad News For “Dog”

It may not have as many twists and turns as the Anna Nicole Smith saga, but the legal wranglings popular Hawaii-based bounty hunter Duane “Dog” Chapman currently faces is enough to make anyone’s head spin. Chapman is the star of TV’s reality series “Dog the Bounty Hunter,” however his star status may be in jeopardy now that a federal court cleared the way for him to be extradited to Mexico to face charges that he illegally arrested Max Factor makeup heir and convicted rapist Andrew Luster in 2003. According to a Honolulu newspaper, the decision can still be appealed, but … Continue reading

“Dog” Remains Unleashed—For Now

In front of a standing room only crowd, lawyers for Duane “Dog” Chapman announced that a Mexican court would delay prosecution of the bounty hunter until more evidence in the case can be presented. The announcement came during a press conference in Honolulu yesterday. According to various media outlets, Chapman is now awaiting a ruling from a Mexican court as to whether he will have to appear at an extradition hearing. This latest chapter in the ongoing Chapman saga follows the arrest of “Dog,” his son Leland and his associate Timothy Chapman (no relation) by U.S. marshals in Hawaii in … Continue reading

“Dog” Out Of Jail, But On Tight Leash

I’m not a HUGE fan of Duane “Dog” Chapman who stars on his own cable reality show–“Dog The Bounty Hunter,” but since I am from Hawaii (Chapman resides on the island of Oahu) and once covered courts for a local television station there, “Dog’s” recent arrest is something I felt compelled to blog about (that and the fact that the guy has a ton of rabid fans who follow his every move). To get you up to speed, Chapman is a bounty hunter who made headlines in 2003 for capturing Max Factor cosmetics heir Andrew Luster in Mexico (“Dog” was … Continue reading
