Start Your Own Fundraiser

Edward Norton is one of my favorite green celebrities. He raised $1.2 million for the Maasai Wilderness Conservation Trust when he ran in the New York Marathon last fall. He has now set up a web site where you can raise money for your favorite charity as well. Crowdrise is the web site that helps you create your own fundraising page. Crowdrise promises it will take less than a minute – unless you are a slow typer of course. It is actually three simple steps to get started. You enter your personal info, such as name and email, upload a … Continue reading

Green Celebrities: Edward Norton

Edward Norton is one of my favorite actors, but he is also a proponent of green issues. But, then green runs in his family. His father is the director of the Nature Conservancy’s Yunnan Great Rivers conservation project, his sister got her graduate degree in environmental policy, and his brother is a professional guide who has taken whitewater trips through the Grand Canyon. Norton got his start in 1996’s Primal Fear and earn a Best Supporting Actor nod for his performance. Since then, he has combined acting with activism. He has been on the board of Enterprise Community Partners since … Continue reading

A List of 10 Green Celebrities

I have blogged about green celebrities such as Woody Harrelson and Robert Redford in the past, but here is a list of 10 more actors and actresses that are doing their part for the environment: 10. Alicia Silverstone Silverstone has a LA house that is equipped with solar panels and she has an organic vegetable garden out back. A long time vegetarian, she has also worked with EcoTools to create a beauty product and bag line made of hemp and other recycled material. 9. Will Ferrell Oh sure he’s funny, but Ferrell is also serious when he supports the National … Continue reading

The Incredible Hulk (2008)

Forget 2003’s Hulk film directed by Ang Lee. The new movie throws out that continuity and attaches itself firmly to the 1970s television series of the same name. The movie takes into account the continuity of the summer’s other big hit Iron Man (which I haven’t gotten to see yet unfortunately) and future projects such as The Avengers, but more on that later. The Movie Bruce Banner (now played by Edward Norton) is hiding out in Brazilian slums while he investigates the possibility of a cure in the form of rare flowers. William Hurt takes a turn as the military … Continue reading

Edward Norton Blasts the Media

I just love Edward Norton – have ever since I saw him play Aaron Stampler so well in Primal Fear. However, he has been involved in a few controversies while making films. First was during (and after) 1998’s American History X, for which he won an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor. Back in July 1998, director Tony Kaye was pushing New Line Cinema to use his editing cut of the film. However, New Line Cinema was leaning towards the version of the film that used their own people, the film’s producer, Bill Carraro, and star Edward Norton. Kaye was … Continue reading

Favorite Movie Villains: Who Didn’t Make the Cut

As you probably know if you have been reading my villain blog series, Entertainment Weekly released their 50 favorite movie villains list. This list was comprised by the EW staff. But, it seems they left off quite a few fan favorites! Fans couldn’t believe EW missed Glenn Close as Marquise Merteuil in Dangerous Liaisons. Personally, I am offended that both EW and fans missed the ultimate female villain, beautiful yet demented Alex Forrest, played by Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction. I am sure plenty of us could relate when she told Michael Douglas “I’m not going to be ignored, Dan!” … Continue reading

Juicy Hollywood Tidbits – April 18, 2007

In the wake of the Virginia Tech tragedy, small pieces of Hollywood news keep trickling in. Here is some of the latest: He’s a Hunk, but Is He a Hulk? The answer is, apparently, yes! If you have read a few of my past blogs, you know I absolutely love Edward Norton. Now, he has been named to play scientist/superhero Bruce Banner in the big screen version of The Incredible Hulk. While the 2003 version Hulk was only a modest success at the box office and garnered mostly poor reviews, Marvel and Universal Pictures is hoping this one will do … Continue reading

Top Ten Weirdest Date Mates

Let’s face facts: Hollywood is a land all unto itself. What might appear just downright strange in your town can almost seem normal in Hollywood. This theory of thought extends to dating. Often, two unlikely celebrities hook up and we never even bat an eyelash. But then, there are the couples that just make you go – “What?” Here’s my top ten weirdest Hollywood couples ever: 10. Melissa Gilbert and Rob Lowe Okay, maybe this one isn’t too weird – that is why I listed it as #10. But, when they dated back in 1982, Melissa was still primarily known … Continue reading

Edward Norton – One of the Best Actors of My Generation

“I always felt that acting was an escape, like having the secret key to every door and permission to go into any realm and soak it up. I enjoy that free pass.” – Edward Norton I fell in love with Edward Norton the minute I saw him in his first film, Primal Fear. His character, Aaron Stampler, was a demure, abused alter boy accused of killing a Bishop. I’ll admit I saw the movie because of Richard Gere, but I came out of it an Edward Norton fan. What really caught my attention was his transformation at the end of … Continue reading
