Saturday Night Live just turned 31 on October 11th of this year. It still looks pretty good to me, despite losing several regular cast members last season. Saturday Night Live has been, over the years, the best and worst comedy ride ever. There have been absolutely brilliant comedians with a few mediocre at best thrown in from time to time. The Death of a Rock-n-Roll Icon

I have always heard all good things must come to an end. But this one really hurts. I read today that famed New York club CBGB will officially be closing in October 2006. The club’s lease expired and unable or unwilling to pay the rent increase from $19,000 to $35,000 a month, owner Hilly Kristal was eventually presented with an eviction notice. The music industry rallied around finding a solution to keep CBGB open, but after much hubbub between Hilly and the property owner, it looks like the legendary club will close for good, at least at its original site. … Continue reading

Celebrity Baby Watch: Diana Krall and Elvis Costello

There seems to be no end to the celebrity baby boom and now we can add Diana Krall and Elvis Costello to the list. A representative for the couple confirmed that they are indeed expecting a little bundle of joy to arrive in December. The couple has been wed for three years. This is Costello’s third marriage (he has one child from his first marriage) and Krall’s first marriage and child. Krall, a native of British Columbia, has found success with her smooth, jazzy sound.
