Check Your Smoke Detectors and Fire Extinguishers

One safety step that every family needs to do at least once a month is to check their smoke detectors and fire extinguishers. More “Drama” For The Osbourne’s

Okay, I confess, there was a time when I actually sat down and watched an entire “Osbourne’s” marathon on MTV. Life in … Continue reading

Fire Safety and Prevention

It made me sad to think of the family who lived there, and everything that they were losing in the fire. This experience taught me the importance of preventing a fire, and preparing your family for the possibility of one. … Continue reading

Her teacher tells the children that all of their homes should have smoke alarms, and escape plans in case of a fire. He also suggested that everyone’s family do a “fire drill” where they learn how they … Continue reading

In a recent study done by the Society of Fire Protection, the research shows that young children ages 6-10 years old are much more likely to wake up to a smoke detector that uses voice or emits a low pitched alarm than traditional smoke detectors that use a higher pitched sound. In an experiment where the mothers voice was recorded and played while the children slept, ALL of the kids woke up! In some cases they experimented by using a female actor’s voice or a pattern of beeps. In those particular cases the children woke up about 90% of the … Continue reading
