5 Tips for Taking Your Baby Out to a Restaurant

I’m tempted to just write that you shouldn’t ever take your baby to a restaurant and leave it at that. There are lots of good reasons not to bring baby along with you to a restaurant. And just to clarify here, McDonald’s doesn’t count. Yet despite my numerous (and rather humorous) experiences in restaurants with my babies I find myself in various situations that necessitate coping with both a nice eating establishment and the typical baby. (By typical that means the audibly belching, sm diapered, fussy baby.) Of course everyone with any common sense knows that toddlers require crayons and … Continue reading

Family Travel: More Kid-Friendly Restaurants

I don’t know about you, but when our family hits the road for a family vacation there are only so many meals I can tolerate ordering from a hanging fluorescent menu. By day two I insist we eat at least one meal at a sit-down restaurant. However, I realize that this can add up (especially if you are not staying at a condo or resort with a kitchen that allows you to make your own meals). In a previous blog I provided a list of some of our family’s favorite roadside pit stops. Here now are a few affordable additions … Continue reading

Ming Tsai – Combining East and West Into Something Great

About ten years ago, I was not in a good place. My then-boyfriend/now-husband was living in another city seven hours away. My stepmother had just died in a car wreck, leaving my 12-year-old sister and my father, already widowed once when my mother died. To add to all that, I had been living with my 80-year-old grandmother and right after my stepmother died, my grandmother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and had to have surgery. I was pretty much the only one left to try to hold the family together. All this and also trying to work forty hours a … Continue reading

Without doubt, New York offers culinary enthusiasts with everything imaginable from casual diners to elaborate five-star restaurants. Today, New York is hopping with new and exciting trends, making it a fabulous place to dine. To help you choose a restaurant for your trip to New York, I have provided some of my … Continue reading

Blue Coral Seafood and Spirits: Newport Beach, California

The other night I was lucky enough to be assigned a restaurant review for Blue Coral Seafood and Spirits in Newport Beach. Blue Coral offers an upscale, contemporary environment. The first thing I noticed when I walked in was the electric blue vodka bar, which boasts more than 60 international vodkas, and their open kitchen, which gives guests a birds-eye view of what goes on behind the scenes. While we were looking over the menu, the server brought freshly baked buttermilk biscuits and honey butter to our table. They were delicious. We ordered cocktails, because how can you not with … Continue reading

Bob Barker to Step On Down

You may remember a while back, I wrote a blog about my experience going to the perennial game show “The Price is Right.” Bob Barker is as much a piece of our pop culture as television itself. He has been on the air for 50 years, 35 alone as the host of “The Price is Right.” He has been on the show for so long, I honestly believed he would continue to be its host until he just dropped, but yesterday, he announced he would retire next June. Bob started his game show host career back in 1956 as the … Continue reading

Restaurants at the Grand Floridian

I promised you some information on the restaurants available at the Grand Floridian and while I’m late, better late than never. Here is a look at the restaurants available at the Grand Floridian. Even if you do not stay at the hotel, the restaurants themselves are worth checking out during your next Disney World visit and stay at a Disney World resort. Victoria & Albert’s is considered the dining centerpiece of the Grand Floridian. It’s also a very fancy, elegant restaurant and if you’re looking for a place to dress up in your fine clothes for a beautiful evening with … Continue reading

Advanced Dining Reservations: Making Your Disney Stay More Efficient

Each time I make my way to the Walt Disney World resort, I make it a point to call the resort’s Advanced Dining Reservation hotline and make reservations for meals throughout my stay. It wasn’t always that way, however. In the past, I’d trek down to Florida, spend my day at the park and either wait an hour or so for a table at a restaurant I wanted to try or finally give up and do counter service. Until I started using Disney’s Advanced Reservation service, that is. The perks of calling 407-W-DINE either before your vacation or after you … Continue reading

Epcot Restaurant Review: San Angel Inn

Nestled within Epcot’s Mexico pavilion is, perhaps, one of the most unique Mexican themed restaurants you’ll probably ever find. Housed inside a replica of an ancient Aztec temple, not only does the San Angel Inn fully immerse you in the lore of Mexico’s past, it also has a wide array of dishes on its menu. As you choose from entrees such as Mahi-Mahi a la Veracruzana or Punta de Filete, you and your party can sit “under the stars” of a sky that is always just on the verge of a storm as fires burn from a faux Aztec temple … Continue reading

Expedition Everest Attraction Spawns Everest Desserts

You might think that Expedition Everest’s “charm” remains solely within the Animal Kingdom theme park. However, Disney chefs – incidentally some of the most acclaimed chefs in the world – have been hard at work preparing a number of Expedition Everest themed desserts, which guests can find throughout the Walt Disney World resort. The first two desserts are appropriately found close the Animal Kingdom theme park at the Animal Kingdom Lodge, a resort that allows you to watch the giraffes and zebras of the Animal Kingdom attraction, Kilmanjaro Safari, graze from your hotel room balcony. Animal Kingdom Lodge’s Boma restaurant … Continue reading
