Golden Globes: Did Jodie Foster Come Out?

Last night’s Golden Globes was a great night of pretty dresses, good jokes, lots of drinks, and a few odd moments.  I have to lump Jodie Foster’s speech under the odd category. The actress (who I think is absolutely incredible at her craft) received the Hollywood Foreign Press Association’s Cecil B. DeMille Lifetime Achievement Award.  She walked on stage looking stunning – the blue dress was beautiful and matched her eye color perfectly.  She looked gorgeous and young, but reminded the crowd she was 50. The speech itself was rather scattered to me.  She seemed to ramble about her age … Continue reading

Award Season is in Full Bloom

I love award season! I start getting excited when the Golden Globes are announced then the season culminates with a 12-13 hour Oscar day at my house. The Golden Globes were last weekend and they, along with the Screen Actors Guild Awards, which was held last night, begin the road to Oscar for many actors. So far, award season is going as many do. There are some obvious favorites, even though the Academy Awards nominees won’t be announced until February 2nd. Let’s look at some of the big awards. Avatar won the Best Motion Picture-Drama Golden Globe, but does that … Continue reading

The Golden Globes are Announced

The Golden Globes award ceremony will be on NBC on January 11th, provided there isn’t another strike (and yes, there is a potential actors strike brewing). Today, we learned who might just win at the 66th annual Golden Globes. For Best Drama, the race is between Brad Pitt’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, the historical piece Frost/Nixon, The Reader (about a German lawyer, a woman he loves, and Nazi war crime trials), Revolutionary Road (based on the novel by Richard Yates about a couple in the ‘50s), and Slumdog Millionaire (about a Hindi orphan who stands to win 20 … Continue reading

Globes Gone Swag Stays and Rumors Swirl Over Baby Harlow

When you tune in to watch the Golden Globe Awards tonight you won’t be treated to the traditional glitz and glam on the red carpet. Nor will you get to see stars dripping with jewels knock back glasses of champagne live during the swanky dinner party setting that is typically associated with the televised ceremony. Rather, because of the writers strike all you’ll see will be a few suits at a podium reading the names of winners during a no-frills news conference. Despite the anticlimactic showing, gift suites remain in full swag. Which means Globe nominees (and would be presenters) … Continue reading

The Golden Globe Nominations Are Announced

The award races are off and running! The Hollywood Foreign Press has announced the nomination for the upcoming 65th annual Golden Globes award show. Atonement, which stars Kiera Knightley and James McAvoy, was the big winner – well as far as nominations goes – with seven including Best Picture-Drama, Best Actress-Drama, Best Actor-Drama, Best Supporting Actress, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Original Score. The other films nominated for Best Picture were American Gangster, Eastern Promises, The Great Debaters, Michael Clayton, No Country for Old Men, and There Will Be Blood. Sadly, I have only heard of a couple of … Continue reading

Miss Golden Globe

The 65th Annual Golden Globe Awards is scheduled for January 13, 2008 on NBC. Michele has already mentioned that Rumer Willis, the oldest daughter of Demi Moore and Bruce Willis, will be this year’s Miss Golden Globe. For the past 44 years, the Miss Golden Globe or Mr. Golden Globe (yes, there have been a couple of young men chosen to perform this duty) is generally the daughter or son of a celebrity. You may be wondering who else has served this honor then gone on to be a star themselves. Here are a few of the previous honorees you … Continue reading
