Grateful Dead Rises Again Grateful Dead fans have reason to celebrate tonight. A new radio channel devoted entirely to the popular band with a cult-like following is set to debut next month. What mother wouldn’t appreciate receiving a beautiful bouquet of flowers on Mother’s Day? Yesterday my 3-year-old presented me with a heap of crunchy grass blades and declared the “bouquet” my Mother’s Day present. Too Legit To Quit It was an auction where the winning bids were actually legitimate. (Translation: the items weren’t listed on eBay.) And the haul was quite substantial. According to news reports, a recent auction of Grateful Dead memorabilia netted more than $1.1 million. I’m related to a Deadhead so I am not surprised by the auction’s success, though I am a bit taken aback by some of the items Lawrence “Ram Rod” Shurtliff collected over the years.
