Hannah Montana Body Double Brouhaha—Much Ado About Nothing?

Personally, I don’t see what the big deal is… but you might. For days now entertainment news shows have been making a huge production out of a relatively innocuous switcheroo that took place on stage at a recent “Hannah Montana” concert. Now, several mainstream media outlets have jumped on the story and the “Hannah Montana” body double brouhaha has seemingly taken on a life of its own. If you’ve been living under a rock for the pat few weeks here’s what the controversy is all about: It centers around a video posted on YouTube (surprise, surprise) that shows Miley Cyrus … Continue reading

Hannah Montana Concert Ticket Story with a Happy Ending and Johnny Depp Braces For Wisconsin Chill

Finally, a story involving Hannah Montana concert tickets that has a HAPPY ending. In the wake of the recent Hannah Montana concert ticket brouhaha in which a Texas mother helped her daughter write an essay filled with lies (it essentially recounted a sob story of how the girl’s father died in war-torn Iraq, only the dad is alive and well and knew little of the ruse) it’s nice to see that there are still some people in this world who live honorably. One such person lives not too far away from me in a suburb of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. His name … Continue reading

Hannah Montana Essay Contest Debacle

It’s incidents like these that make me overjoyed that my young daughter is still in love with Strawberry Shortcake, Hello Kitty, Elmo and Blues Clues… and that she has no clue who Hannah Montana is. (I’m hoping I can keep her in the dark for years to come.) If you have a pint-sized Hannah Montana fan in your home then you might be familiar with the essay contest brouhaha that emerged when a 6-year-old girl and her mother went to extremes to secure four concert tickets to the tween sensation’s sold-out show. The youngster’s essay began with the powerful line: … Continue reading

“Hannah Montana” Movie… Maybe

Calm down; Disney has not pulled the plug on the upcoming “Hannah Montana” movie. It’s just that the film based on the hugely popular Disney TV series starring Miley Cyrus has hit a bit of a snag. According to new reports, Cyrus’ dad, singer Billy Ray (who also plays her father on the show) really wants his daughter’s new film to be shot in Tennessee, but state officials say they might not be able to offer the producers enough financial incentives. The new movie is scheduled to start shooting in April and is expected to be released in late 2008 … Continue reading

Celebrity Updates: Fabio vs. George Fallout and “Hannah Montana” Sky High Ticket Prices

George Clooney is a “low-class scumbag.” At least according to the famous longhaired literary lover Fabio. As you’ll recall from my previous blog, the actor (best known for his role in those butter substitute commercials) and movie star George Clooney recently got into a scuffle at a Beverly Hills restaurant after the former “Facts of Life” star allegedly insulted some of Fabio’s female companions. The romance novel icon stunned diners at the upscale eatery when he exchanged fighting words with Clooney before both men started to get unflatteringly physical with each other. Now Fabio is going on the record, defending … Continue reading

What Would You Do For “Hannah Montana” Tickets?

I love my daughter more than words could possibly express. There is nothing I wouldn’t do for her… except, perhaps, spend 144 hours hugging a statute of “Hannah Montana.” Actually, I’d probably do that too. Thankfully, though, I haven’t been put in that position. Which is more than can be said for Jody Powell. The 35-year-old soon-to-be step father of a die-hard “Hannah Montana” fan hung on to a 12-foot statue of “Hannah Montana” for the better part of six days to win tickets to a sold-out concert by Miley Cyrus, star of the Disney Channel TV series. The Tampa … Continue reading

Hot Concert Acts Sell Out in Seconds

Thirty-eight seconds to be exact. That’s right; in less time than it takes to warm up a cup of coffee tickets for the Spice Girls London reunion show completely sold out. And, wait until you find out how long it took for Miley Cyrus’ concerts to sell out. More on “Hannah Montana” later… let’s discuss those spicy Brits first. The all-girl group hasn’t performed together in nearly a decade (Geri Halliwel, a.k.a. “Ginger Spice,” quit, citing “differences in 1998), but who knew their popularity would rival acts such U2, Michael Jackson and Bruce Springsteen (all who remain in the record … Continue reading

Hannah Montana – Teen TV Review

Hannah Montana is a half hour comedy show on the Disney Channel. The star of the show is Miley Cyrus as Hannah. Miley/Hannah is also a real life star. She currently has two cd’s on the top 40 list. Her father on the show is her real life father, and country music star, Billy Ray Cyrus. One of the things I like the most about this show is that the father actually has some sense, and he’s involved in the lives of his children. He’s got some great southern sayings that make us all laugh. The premise of the show … Continue reading
