When a celebrity auction occurs, it seems that everyone wants a piece of the action. This week, several items have sold for quite a nice sum. A first edition Harry Potter book, Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, was auctioned off by Dallas’ Heritage Auction Galleries and brought in $19,000. While you can find a copy of the first Harry Potter book much cheaper, you won’t be able to find a first edition. According to organizers running the “What’s Your Story?” auction, the 800-word Harry Potter prequel written by the boy wizard’s creator J.K. Rowling appears on pieces of paper that are each only slightly larger than a postcard. A London art agent came in with the winning bid and is now the proud owner of one of only seven copies of “The Tales of Beedle the Bard,” which is leather bound with silver mounts. By now I’m sure you have heard the story of 4-year-old Madeleine McCann. She is the British girl who was allegedly kidnapped from her family’s vacation villa in Portugal on May 3rd.
