Oprah Counsels Rihanna and Jimmy Kimmel is Alone Again

Oprah, herself a victim of physical abuse, held a roundtable discussion on her show today and she offered some wise words of advice for Rihanna. The young star, who was beaten up by her boyfriend, singer Chris Brown, is said to have reunited with him at Diddy’s house in Miami. Oprah thinks the young couple needs to take some time and get counseling. She also mentioned a good point – “Love doesn’t hurt.” Well, at least not physically. And Oprah pointed out something she says she has been telling women for years – “If a man hits you once, he … Continue reading

Ed McMahon and “Screech” Find Ways to Make Money

Cancel the telethon… Ed McMahon got a job. Johnny Carson’s longtime “Tonight Show” sidekick, who recently made headlines when he went public about his financial woes, is off the unemployment line. The 85-year-old is heading back to the airwaves as a pitchman for Pontiac cars. McMahon reportedly shot a series of comical commercials for the car manufacturer, which will start airing Monday on ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live.” “It felt very good to be out of the brace and working again,” McMahon, told reporters today, referring to the brace he has been forced to wear following a third neck operation. “I … Continue reading

Splitting and Quitting in Hollywood

SPLITTING Don’t look at Matt Damon and Ben Affleck, the handsome duo say they aren’t responsible for the split between Jimmy Kimmel and Sarah Silverman. The late-night TV host and his funny gal ladylove of five years just confirmed that they are no longer a couple much to the chagrin of a few magazine publishers who had pegged the two as one of the most solid couples in Hollywood. Insiders say the parting of ways comes on the heels of 39-year-old Kimmel’s admission that he would like to be a father “some day soon.” Silverman, 37, has long joked that … Continue reading

Leno on Kimmel, Kimmel on Leno

Ingenious move or simple desperation? I’m thinking it was a bit of both that encouraged producers at Jay Leno and Jimmy Kimmel’s late-night talk shows to have each comedian appear on the other’s show this week. It’s a one night swap that will make history and at the very least solve the problem of filling time on shows that have been hit hard by the ongoing Hollywood writers strike. Set your TiVos for Thursday night, that’s when the madness is scheduled to occur. According to show producers, Kimmel will travel to Leno’s studio in Burbank, California, and Leno will return … Continue reading

The Show Will Go On

In a previous blog I reported that David Letterman plans to return to the airwaves with new shows beginning Wednesday night. However, when the announcement was made that Letterman’s production company had reached an agreement with striking writers no one knew for sure if celebrities who supported the work stoppage would appear as guests on the late-night talk show. Well, it appears Dave won’t have to chat with himself come Wednesday. According to show producers, Robin Williams has agreed to be Letterman’s first guest when the show returns in two days. Some TV critics are speculating that the appearance of … Continue reading

Kimmel, Stewart and Colbert Returning with New Shows

Jimmy Kimmel, Jon Stewart and Stephen Colbert will join NBC’s late-night hosts in returning with new shows next month. ABC made the announcement regarding Kimmel’s show, which was later followed by a statement from the comedian who added that it was a difficult decision to resume work without writers, but he planned to do so to save the jobs of other staffers on the show. “Though it makes me sick to do so without my writers, there are more than a hundred people whose financial well-being depends on our show. It is time to go back to work,” Kimmel said … Continue reading

Leno and O’Brien Returning to Late-Night TV

Fans of Jay Leno and Conan O’Brien will get to start 2008 with fresh laughs from their favorite late-night comedians after all. Executives at NBC just announced that both the “Tonight” show and “Late Night” will return to TV with new episodes beginning January 2nd, almost exactly two months to the day after the Hollywood writers strike sent them into repeats. According to NBC bigwigs, both late-night talk shows will not include jokes supplied by writers. They didn’t elaborate on who will be writing material, but you’d think that the life-long comedian/hosts could help come up with a few minutes … Continue reading

Celebrity “REAL” or “RUMOR”—-Are They or Aren’t They?

IS SHE? This is an update to a previous “Celebrity REAL or RUMOR” I posted a few weeks ago. Back then the Internet was buzzing with the rumor that “Desperate Housewives’” star Nicollette Sheridan was pregnant with fiancé Michael Bolton’s baby. Several tabloids suggested 44-year-old Sheridan was with child and cited claims that she was turning to her “Desperate Housewives” co-stars, Teri Hatcher, Marcia Cross and Felicity Huffman, to provide her with advice on pregnancy issues. Well, chock up those fake conversations to tabloid fodder because Bolton is finally batting down the rumors that he is about to be a … Continue reading

Writers Strike Day 6—-Let the Firings Begin

Day 6 of the Writers Guild strike started with 102 members of “The Office” being fired. The hit NBC comedy shut down this week, and as a result, more than 100 below the line employees from grips and camera assistants to hairstylists and set dressers were given pink slips. In addition, the peacock network also informed the nonwriting staff of “The Tonight Show with Jay Leno” that it would be laid off next Friday if the strike doesn’t end. And since Leno has already gone public refusing to cross the picket line, show producers are looking at alternative ways of … Continue reading

All Jimmy All The Time

If you are a fan of Jimmy Kimmel I have good news for you. If you can’t stand the guy then I would suggest staying away from your TV for a while. And if have no clue who Jimmy Kimmel is you probably will by the end of the month. The late night talk show host will be saturating the airwaves beginning next week. In a move that has never been executed by an entertainer, Kimmel is going bicoastal. He’s keeping his gig as host of ABC’s “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” in Los Angeles but will also be filling in for … Continue reading
