Kelsey Grammer Suffers a Heart Attack

… at a beach about 90 minutes from my parent’s home! He’s no George Clooney, but whenever I see a smiling Kelsey Grammer I always think to myself that he looks quite well preserved. So imagine my surprise when I learned that the former “Cheers” star suffered what doctors are calling “a mild heart attack” Saturday morning. Reports say Grammer was paddle boarding with his wife Camille near their vacation home on the Big Island of Hawaii Saturday morning when he began experiencing chest pains. According to his rep, the 53-year-old former “Frasier” star is currently “resting comfortably” and is … Continue reading

Grammer Gets Dumped

Oh no! Say it ain’t so… FOX just announced that it is dumping my favorite show, “Back to You.” For those of you who never found the time to enjoy the short-lived comedy starring my favorite sitcom star Kelsey Grammer (who was teamed up Patricia Heaton) you will now never get the chance to do so. The shocking news (Grammer told reporters the decision to cancel the show was a “surprise and a shame”) came just days after network execs told the cast and crew that the show was indeed coming back for another season in the fall. In fact, … Continue reading

Daytime TV Going a Little Bit Country

He may have lost to British tabloid editor Piers Morgan on NBC’s “The Celebrity Apprentice,” but Trace Adkins’ consolation prize is going to make millions of soap fans very happy. The award-winning country crooner and beloved “Celebrity Apprentice” contestant went from being fired by Donald Trump in primetime to being hired by CBS for a stint on the most popular daytime serial on TV. According to CBS executives, Adkins has been tapped to appear on “The Young and the Restless” where he will sing his latest hit, “You’re Gonna Miss This,” from his CD “American Man, Greatest Hits Vol. II.” … Continue reading

Writers’ Strike Hits “Desperate Housewives”

Oh sure, now the truth comes out. Prior to writers actually hitting the picket line yesterday, producers of popular primetime TV shows such as “Desperate Housewives,” “Two and a Half Men,” and “CSI” maintained their series’ wouldn’t be sent into reruns until January. Fat chance. Turns out production has already stopped on at least six sitcoms because of the Hollywood writers’ strike. According to studio heads, my favorite show of the new season “Back to You,” starring Kelsey Grammer and Patricia Heaton, will not return from a planned hiatus. Sniff. Sniff. Julia Louis-Dreyfus told TV’s “Entertainment Tonight” production has also … Continue reading

More Celebrities Fleeing Fire Zone

The ferocious fires ripping their way through Southern California has prompted another wave of celebrity evacuations. In my previous blogs I told you that stars such as Sean Penn and Suzanne Somers were just a few of the Malibu residents forced to flee their million-dollar mansions since Sunday. Now it seems half of Hollywood is following in their lead. Tori Spelling and her husband Dean McDermott’s newly renovated bed and breakfast, Chateau La Rue, in Fallbrook, California, about 100 miles southeast of Los Angeles was evacuated yesterday. The B&B is the setting for the couple’s reality TV show, Tori & … Continue reading

Oh Baby! Adding To Hollywood’s Elite

He’s got a new miniseries to promote, but it seems Chris O’Donnell is much happier spreading the word about his growing family. The actor just announced that his wife Caroline is pregnant with the couple’s fifth child. Yesterday O’Donnell told the hosts of NBC’s “Today” show that he is thrilled to be adding to his clan. “Yeah, we’re just starting to figure out how it works. I think I know why this is happening, but we’re really excited about it,” joked O’Donnell. The 37-year-old actor and Fentress have been married since 1997. The couple’s four other children are daughter Lily, … Continue reading

New “News Shows”

Hands down one of my favorite TV shows of all time is “Frasier.” The now defunct NBC comedy (which you can still catch in syndication) was masterfully written starred some of the funniest actors around. The verbal sparring between Kelsey Grammer (Frasier Crane) and David Hyde Pierce (Niles Crane) was by far the most hilarious material I have ever watched (over and over and over again). Those two were simply brilliant on that show. Sigh. I really miss “Frasier.” While it will never be resurrected, I take solace in the fact that Kelsey Grammer will be returning to television this … Continue reading

This Week in Television – May 18, 2007

Big week for television viewers as the networks announced new shows and those that were cancelled. If you are a fan of “Veronica Mars,” “Jericho,” “The Class,” “Close to Home,” “George Lopez,” “Help Me Help You,” “What About Brian,” “Crossing Jordan,” or “Studio 60 on the Sunset Strip,” I have bad news – all of these shows have been cancelled. Despite poor ratings, “Friday Night Lights” was renewed by NBC. “According to Jim” may or may not be back – ABC hasn’t decided yet. “The New Adventures of Old Christine” will be back, but in midseason, not on the fall … Continue reading
