It is always a good idea to check out the coupon policy of the store you want to shop at before you go. The coupon policy can change at any time, and without warning. The Change in Generic Food May Help You Save

Here is one way that the downturn in the economy may be good for those of us living frugally, although some caution is still advised. Grocery stores are having to come up with new ways to be creative when selling their food, and they are quick to respond to anything that will sell product. One of the results of people tightening their belts is the fact that most shoppers, even ones with higher income, are now buying generic store brands instead of name brand. This applies to food and other household goods, such as laundry detergent. As bread prices move … Continue reading

Grocery Deals of the Week – QFC / Kroger

QFC (Kroger in some areas) is consistently higher than the other stores in my area. I shop there for two reasons: they have great loss leaders, and their customer service is miles ahead of the Safeway in our town. I picked up Mentos at 10/$10. Why Mentos? It’s a homeschool thing. Have you seen the videos of the Eepybird guys exploding them in Diet Coke? I have a budding scientist who has been dying to try it. Five packs of Mentos (mint flavor only) and some diet soda also on sale at 10/$10, and it’s pretty cheap entertainment for a … Continue reading

QFC / Kroger Deal on Frozen Chicken

I’ll admit it. Sometimes I just don’t feel like cooking dinner. We’ve actually had Rocky Road ice cream for our main meal. The kids didn’t seem to mind, and I figure that they normally eat healthy so it’s not going to hurt too much. Nights like that in our house are called “hodge-podge”. As in, “What’s for dinner?” “Hodge podge!” In other words, get your own. Mine are finally old enough to do that. Hooray! I try to keep easy-to-fix things for nights I’m not making a full meal. We have a freezer in the garage that’s affectionately known as … Continue reading

Super Deal from Kraft at Kroger

I love Superbowl Sunday. No, not because of the football game. Though I’d like to watch the Colts win, I’ll be camping with the Scout troop instead. I love it because there are always good grocery store sales! One of this week’s best deals in my area is at QFC/Kroger. Not only has Kraft reduced prices for the week, but they’re also offering $8 off the purchase of any eight items that are pink tagged (the pink tag is a participating Kraft Game Day Essential item). My son nicely volunteered me to shop for the campout. We have a rule … Continue reading
